So, anyway, 95 N/A 850 wagon with LH3.2 and an M56 250k (ish) on the clock, blown head gasket or cracked head/block. The goal is to make a nice looking, reliable DD. This is a second car, and doesn't get as much of my time as I would like, so needless to say, my progress is slow. Not really sure what the overheating issue is with the original motor (will tear it down at some point to find out) so rather than fix it, I opted to pull a motor at the local JY. Ended up with a N/A motor from a 98 S70 with closer to 150k. Debated tearing it down and going "stage 0" but since it was only $100 for the motor, and compression seems to be ok, I figured why not give it a shot and see how it goes.
So far:
Original motor removed
Engine bay deep cleaned (what a mess)
Cleaned new motor up
M56 moved to new motor with new clutch and new rear main seal
Gasket matching on intake and exhaust ports
Painted valve cover and intake mani
New oem plugs
New timing belt
Various other accessory items moved over
To do:
Finish slapping on all the accessories I can before the motor goes in (this includes new thermostat and PCV breather system)
Paint engine bay
Put in new engine mounts and poly bushings
Get the engine in the car, hooked up and see how she runs
Prep and paint Volans
Prep and paint car
There are many other things on my "want to do" list, eventually they will happen.. but for now the goal is to get it running right and looking halfway ok.
I haven't taken as many pictures as I should have.. but here's what I have now. More pics and progress to come.
