I am interested in a 2.4, Non Turbo SE S60 from 01-05~

What is the best year for that car ?

- Gearbox, I understand all S60 Auto's are AWTF-80 ? Is that a reliable transmission? What fluid does it take ?
- What did Volvo do to the S60 mechanically between 01-04 ? Anything important or are they all the same cars.
- Most common Volvo design related faults ? In my S40, it's the VVT.. It goes to everyone. Anything similar in S60's ?
-Hows the milage for that engine ? (2.4 naturally aspirated)

Thanks !

Any S60 other then 01-02 automatics. Lots of info on this around here.

Also why an N/A and not a turbo? The turbo has much better drivability then the pokey N/A.

thanks very much ! What happened at 2003 ? Can I have a link ?
Thanks

I have an S40 2.0T now and the turbo has blown once, and now the return line is leaking... It's just a mess !

2003 they revised their software and valve body for the tranny. If it was a 5spd manual then it's a non-issue but stay far away from 01-02 automatics.

As for the turbo, they are VERY VERY rare to fail on the S60/V70/XC series. easy 300K-400K units.

Also the return line, that's a 15min repair, about as easy as changing the oil (unless AWD). You will be very sad if you drive a N/A after coming from a turbo.

MMMMMMMM really ? That reliable ? I guess I'll have to put it back on my list then.
Excellent, so a 2003+ S60 Turbo Auto
Now, did they change anything to the exterior in 04' ?

Not THAT reliable but if serviced it should be fine
As was said, stay away from any 01-02 (automatic) and, of course, the newest you can afford the better.
You won't find many 2003's in general, it was a very short model year
