The last few weeks when I turn the wheel stopped or just pulling into my driveway ect at very low speeds I get this cracking noise. Problem is I cant find where its coming from. On the hoist with the weight off the suspension it doesnt do it. The guys thought its my rack, Im not convinced? Steering knuckle? Suspension is brand new in every way also.

subframe bushings make this noise at wheel lock when turning also.

my 93 makes the same sounds, and unfortunately there is so many things wrong with it I can't determine, but it's been going on for many years, just embarrassing when people hear it.
I do know when i greased the steering stops it helped ALOT with the creaks at near full lock, but if i had to guess i would say CV Joints as well. My sound comes from the driver side, as the passenger axle popping sound went away of course upon replacement.

I had this problem. Found out I didn't fully torque 1 bolt for the lower control arm to the frame bushing. I got 3/4 of a turn on the right side rear bolt. Noise was gone.

Well it turns out the steering rack was loose where its bolted down to the subframe. Got out the air gun and all is well.
. As yes the cause was bolts that needed to be torqued!
