I'm looking to upgrade the suspension on my FWD Volvo 850 and I was looking at getting coilovers. I will be using the car as a DD, Track car, and for AutoX. I'm on a bit of a budget, and I'm not really looking to spend more than $1200. I was looking at GAZ Gold, D2 Racing, and Used KW V2's. Are there any other good options out there? Anybody with experience with any of these?

User "Zappo" damaged his bearings after he installed his D2 coilovers because of the increased cornering speeds in autocross making the oil sit on one side and not get picked up as well. Seems pretty good for what your looking for but before you make any decisions on the D2's check "The Zappo build" thread and the "D2 Coilover the good the bad post here" thread, some more info on them over there. KW V2 are exapnsive... There is also these "TA coilovers" made by JJFab, you could search that in this site too..they are much cheaper.

JJFab doesn't make them, they import them from Europe and sell 'em. If you're looking for a low, stiff setup on the cheap, the TA coils are your best bet.

For what its worth, I haven't ever seen anything about Gaz coilovers for these cars, even on the Swedish sites.

I don't think I would use the TAs for AutoX. D2 would be much better for that since they can be adjusted and give you the ability for negative camber in the front.

GAZ's are made in the UK and from what I've heard about people running them on other cars, theres almost always good things to say about them. D2's get bad rep at almost every turn, so obviously I'm a bit nervous to commit on them. KW V2's are expensive but if someone is selling some used for the cheap I'd jump on them. My big concern is that I dont want it to be complete hell on normal roads, as in I don't want a stiff setup by coilover standards. I know they will be stiffer than struts anyways.

You can check the 'gaz' kit here on my website:http://kalmar-union....c70-suspension/

The price quoted is my UK delivered price that includes our VAT at 20% , So for North America you can deduct that tax but you do need to factor in shipping which will be at least £120....

Best regards, Don.

There is a whole lot more into his setup that made that happen, but none the less I would recommend D2's or if you find a good deal some KW's I have the Variant 3's and they are amazing.

I bought the D2s In January, mostly because they offer the best options for me for the price. I have seen a few people who have had endlink mount issues, but there are far more people running them without issues.

I have been doing my best to break the D2s on the track, but so far no issues at all with them.

i've ran my d2's for just about a year now, through snow, salt, rain, dirt, twisty roads, hillside runs, pretty much anything. not an issue... i really dont understand the bad rep for d2's seriously....
