Hi guys long time no see. Long story short, i am back to Volvo. I had previously owned a 96 850R and an 02 XC70(POS tranny). After the tranny gave out on my XC70 I was fed up with Volvo I could not beleive it was going to cost over $4000 for a used tranny installed. So I ended up selling both of the Volvos we had and went with other brands. Well I still like my Ford Truck however the 02 Slobb 93SE convertible has been having way to many top problems so its time to get rid of her.
Today I bought a 00 Volvo S70SE. Nothing special but I know my 850s I had previously were just about bulletproof. I got the S70 for an extremely good price but there are a couple of issues.
#1 Code P0130 pulled it with the code reader I have looked it up and its the front Oxygen Sensor. No problem just looking for a good price on the sensor. I have looked online and a few diffrent retailers have them for around $100. Anyone have any places I should look that you have ordered from?
#2 The blower fan is not working. I have dont some reading which has told me its either the blower fan or blower resistor. Does anyone have any further info on determining which part I should look into replacing first? Its the Auto climate control if that helps at all. The fan does not turn on at all set on auto or setting the switch all the way to the right. I just dont want to spend useless amounts of cash on something if that is not the problem.
#3 The SRS light is lit. What does this mean?
Any help would be appreicated. i am happy to have a Volvo back in my life!

Thanks in advance
Paul

1: Get a genuine Volvo O2 sensor if it's indeed that.
2: Try a used resistor or take out the fan and apply 12V to the fan motor
3: SRS, air bag, get it scanned by your local dealer for a nice huffy fee!

Yup, airbag can only be diagnosed by the dealer. It could be as simple as resetting the light. The SRS light will come on if you unplug any of the airbags or seatbelt sensors without disconnecting the battery. Even with the sensors all reconnected, the light does not go off on it's own. Perhaps you can get the dealer to reset it for free, but there may be an airbag fault, you just don't know since you aren't the original owner. They will be able to tell you exactly what sensor is the cause of the light though.

I have a used O2 sensor laying around if you want a cheap fix. It has 130,000mi on it, but exhibited no problems or codes at the time of removal. PM me if interested.

My vote is for blower motor resistor too. It looks like a huge heatsink when you remove it. Take off the passenger side kick panel and it should be accessible.

Thanks for the replys guys.
I somewhat found out what is wrong with the blower. Last night I removed the knee bolster and the glove box. I found the fan without issue and thought the plug was loose. Unplugged it pluged it back in and no help. Turned the car on and messed with the wire harness and the fan turned on. I took a meter to the wiring harness and it get power. Pressed down on the harness when plugged into the blower motor and it works. I made a shim out of hard plastic and have rigged it to work. Yes I cleaned the connections. The blower motor looks like an aftermarket unit. I guess if my shim fails I could cut the harness and direct wire it.
So now I have a blower that works. The AC worked for about 5 minutes then shut off (warm air started coming out). I have read something about the compressor needs shims or something of that matter. Anyone have more info on this? Or anything else I should look into??\

Thanks
Paul

Shim it or take the stock shims out. To s of topics on it... All the same for these Volvos and many other vehicles. Google it

Tech on Volvoforums has a nice writeup I believe on taking the shims out. However, my factory '99 Zexel unit did not use shims at all, so I wasted my time taking the clutch off. Might just be worth doing the bread clip fix only.

Check the clutch gap on the A/C compressor first though, if it's not too big, the problem lies elsewhere.

First off I have may solved my O2 code. I know its a long shot however I drove the car for about 10 miles after the check engine lite turn off on its own. I Seafoamed the vac line, made the huge smoke screen for a while. I have done this to my 94 850 turbo and my 96 850R and dont remember this much smoke or the smell it produced however it has been a few years but that smell was unique.

Also I am sure its the AC clutch, AC worked for about 10 minutes then shut off again. I had the car up on the ramps and hit the clutch with a socket extension softly and it turned back on so it looks like the bread clip method will work. Its somewhat confusing looking at the assembly from underneath the car so I am going to read around and make sure I know what I am doing before messing with it.

Thanks for the responces its greatly appreicated.

A few more things. As I stated in the upper part of the thread the blower motor was not working correctly. Went to the junkyard pulled a blower motor and the resistor. Well the new blower motor is working great now! Also come to find out the AC clutch had to be shimmed I cannot beleive the AC is working after the clutch fix. I just used zip ties and read up on the fix or temp fix. Long as it gets me through the few months of summer I will be a happy camper.
The ABS light was also lit when I purchased the car. Again a ghetto shim between the module and the ABS pump and the light is no longer lit. Again CANNOT beleive this worked.
Also while I was at the junk yard I picked up leather seats that are in WAY better condition $110 for the two. Am conditioning and cleaning before I install. They are looking nice I am just using Lexol was thinking of going the Leatherique route any other suggestions?
Oh and the P0130 code has come back up. I have pretty much gone through the engine bay looking for vac leaks. I plan on doing the spark plugs tomorrow. If the code comes back that pretty much means its the front O2 sensor correct? I was going to order a Denso off of Amazon for around $120 direct oe replacement or so it said.
Any info would be greatly appreicated!

Thanks
Paul

Paul the abs module is easy to fix correctly if you can solder. I took mine off in 10min cut the cover off with a dremel and soldered about 10 joints on board that you could see were cold soldered from factory, glued cover back on and has been flawless since.
