So no one seems to have tested the NEW ipd tcv against the Delco...
All I have read is people comparing them to the OLD tcv

It came out about 2 weeks ago.

I was just asking, because from the title of the thread "New Ipd Turbo Control Valve Vs. Ac Delco Tcv", I thought there would be more discussion on the new one.

Seems like everyone is just talking about how the old one sucks and the Delco is better. Which is something we already know and is why people have chosen the Delco.

We'll since it's so new you're going to be hard pressed to find someone to do back to back testing. If they have the old IPD or Delco solenoid they aren't going to go out and buy the new IPD version unless there is something wrong with the current one and since nobodies had issue with the Delco you could cross those people off the list unless they happen to have multiple cars or like hoarding parts.

If you want to send me your new IPD solenoid I'll gladly do a back to back test and when I visit Rob next month we can compare it to the Grainger/IPD version... Or go buy yourself the Delco, its cheap and do the testing yourself. Since I have the Delco why would I drop $90 on something that's working fine and I only payed $30 for, seems like a waste of my time and money. But if you have the cash and the time floating around be my guest.... ;)

But in all honesty what are you expecting the differences to be? It's a valve that opens and closes? I think it's more about being heavy duty and lasting longer then the Bosch unit. Time will tell if this new IPD version can cut the mustard, obviously the old one couldn't... Since you're one of the only guys that has it around here you're our guinea pig, hope it doesn't let you down...

If someone can find the model number on that new grainger I could probably get one here tomorrow and test it over the weekend. I might show it to purchasing to see what he thinks during lunch.

Sorta curious to do a back to back test of ipdgen1 ipdgen2 and delco.
We already know the oem one craps out at higher boost or we wouldnt be doing these upgrades.

I have the Delco on one car and just installed the New IPD on the other car, which is not running right now, hopefully it will by Sat. I was just trying to get some peoples impressions on it.

I'll compare the two once the car gets going.

Anyone want to peel the sticker off the new one to see if there are any model numbers listed anywhere?

Thank you, Just dug through graingers site and a few others and turned up very little.
Looks like the same valve with a different manifold tbh.

Nothing behind the sticker. I don't feel like unbolting it, but I don't remember seeing any writing anywhere on it except for on the top is says "MAC"

looks like the same solenoid that fuzzymotorsports(mac) and AEM(mac) uses

i've been using my DIY version on my s70 for over a year. just as good as the delco one if not better

i will say though that the delco one is going strong in my XC for almost 4 years now.

 these are a little less then the cost of the pre made one for everything but the ev1 connector.
Obviously, just like the previous version, and just like the gm boost controller.
You either do it yourself for less, or you pay for the job to be plug and play.

Wonder what the big difference in these valves really is.

 right?!

I actually found mention of these on multiple forums. 1 was actually a volvo forum  , rest are honda forums.
Best part is... Ebay sellers list these as boost controllers.

Does anyone actually know why IPD pulled the old version off the market?
Heat? Boost issues?

I installed mine last night, about the same size as V1. Mounting bracket is handy I guess. One thing for sure is my v1 was definitely shot, I can make full boost now without overboost. The throttle response seems tighter. With all of that said, I bet the AC delco is just as good. The only reason I got this one is because of warranty issues. I did notice there was a screen in the hole one the front (forgot which number it was).

FWIW, in my opinion, this part is just a switch. It either works or it doesn't. If it leaks then its broken and should be replaced. It will not give you "more" horsepower. I will only give you back what you lost when this part was broken.

Maybe the Delco part is made better and able to withstand the heat and hold the pressure better the the IPD ones. In this case the Delco ones are better since they last longer. The IPD version 2 has not yet been fully vetted out yet due to just coming out. Time will tell. If the IPD one lasts just as long without breaking then the original question will be a wash with both parts being equal except in price. I'm cheap so you know which one I went with...
