I Met the wife for dinner after work yesterday. Both cars are filthy and the pictures are bad, but they rarely are seen together outside of my driveway so I had to snap a picture.

Not much to document, but I don't need this thread getting archived again..

Last night I changed the fog light bulbs as one has burnt out, and while underneath, I realized that there is an oil leak from the front of the engine. I suspect camshaft seals, crankshaft seals, or maybe oil pump o-ring.. Not sure. I'll give the engine a refresh while it's out for the 5 speed swap. Hoping to do that in the next couple of years lol. Just been a nice driver a couple days a week til then.

I finally got around to messing with the parts car 1998 C70 that's been taking up driveway space for almost a year.. I need to get this car stripped down and gone before winter.

I've got most of the odds and ends that I think might be useful to me at some point, but I want to verify that I've got everything for the manual swap before I send it to the crusher. I've read through the parts bible and a couple other threads and I think I've got it all. I'm hoping that since I'm swapping a 1998 C70 with all the parts from a 1998 C70 Manual donor that the swap should be relatively painless.

 

What I have removed:

-Engine/transmission combo. This still includes the clutch parts and flywheel as I haven't separated the engine/trans yet. Most of it's going to be replaced, but I want to have all original pieces to match up/compare.  (Engine has broken timing belt, but should be rebuildable should the need arise)

-Shifter housing/assembly with both cables, knob, and leather boot. This assembly feels sloppy. I'll need to research rebuilding it with new bushings and parts. Also need to find solid bushings for the cables

-clutch/brake pedal assembly with related bracketry. I might have grabbed too much, but that's better than not having enough of the pieces

-I ended up having to cut the hydraulic line as it was corroded and wouldn't come apart at either end. Also didn't bother removing the master cylinder as it will be replaced with new.

-Throttle body with pulleys and throttle cable (I seem to remember reading that this piece was different in a manual car and should be swapped over. Can't seem to remember or find that info again though)

-ECU from 1998 C70 High pressure turbo/manual parts car. This should be a plug and play in my 1998 High pressure turbo/automatic car once the transmission is swapped right? Is there any other electronic pieces or wiring that I need to take from the parts car?

 

Is that it? Anything else I should grab for the manual swap?

Here is what I grabbed for the pedals:

I believe that this is the complete assembly. I got both side brackets as well and the sensors that go in each of those brackets. The only thing I will need to figure out is the vacuum line, but I'm pretty sure that I can just tee the vacuum line from the clutch switch into the brake switch vac line.

On the 98 cars I believe it is super simple because the cruise is vac operated. When I stripped down my m58 car that was the same setup. Still havn't gotten cruise on my m66 swap. The wires @andyb5 and I setup are correct but with the tune we couldn't get the engine to respond correctly to it being plugged in. 

Fun fact, the power ties into the ambient temp sensor on the lower passenger side.

Nice! I definitely want to have cruise control (I'll end up in jail without it). I figured that the vac lines would just tee into the brake side, but I wasn't sure about the wires.. I'll figure it out. Most likely won't be getting any special tune in the near future, so it should be fine for me. I appreciate the info!

I think up in the dash it has a F  fitting or something along those lines. 

Are there even any wires for CC on a 98? Wires at the pedals that is.

CC runs off vacuum in the older cars (not sure about the 99+) so aside from the turn signal wiring where the CC controls are, the remainder of the system is up by the battery(just below the battery)

I was able to get the "F" shaped vacuum fitting from under the dash just in cast I need that.. The brake pedal sensor looks to be about the same as the automatic version, the only thing i'm not 100% on are the 2 wires that come off the clutch pedal sensor.. Maybe those are just for the starter safety where you have to push the clutch in to start the car?

Might be what those do yeah. Especially if the piece they are plugged into looks like this
