Here's the deal...Bought car a couple years ago, PO parked in a garage at his apt. complex and someone hit the car. I bought it with hood dents (covered in brushed on rustoleum) a broken bumper cover, broken drivers headlight and fog light..Fixed the lights during my 3 month Ultimate stage zero.

Last summer an acquaintance of mine had a little accident in his V70R and insurance paid for all new OE body parts and I acquired his bumper. (Kristian wound up with his jewels and are on his black R now).

1 week before Carlisle I had the idea i would get the front end done...that never happened so I showed up with a color coat on the hood (un-blended) and a primered bumper..

I am aware of the other dents in the hood...I was not making this a show car and had to stop somewhere!

Here's how it went:

Started with this:

and this.. I pounded from behind to get to this point :

An old pic when I first bought it showing damage:

6 days before Carlisle i decided to go through with the R bumper and broke the bolts..spent a couple hours dealing with that (new bosses tacked on the brackets)..Still have stock bumper..needs primed and painted if anyone wants it PM me

Sunday before Carlisle:

Thursday: color on hood..no clear or blending...this is how I ended up driving to PA
Posted Image

Got back from Carlisle had some beer and got back to business...Clear on hood...bumper off for paint

All Painted..no wet sanding or buffing yet:

Damn, that looks phenomenal. You did a great job. The paint looks really good. Now you just need a lip to finish it off.

Figured you had it covered.

I need some love like that on my front end. PO used sparkly blue nail polish to cover chips. She got an "A" for effort.

Yeah I could..I am no Pro, but I do know what I am doing and have a bit of prior experience..

I could maybe, if people are interested ( Tommy, I know you are!) post up a run-down of the steps I used to get a finish with no orange peel or swirls..The problem is I only have the pics I posted so it would be a text only guide line.

Again i am no body person, so I don't want to act like I am the expert or anything..

Looks very good!

I'm just gonna get my hood professionally done - I have a long scratch down the center from a snow brush a couple of winters ago, and all the usual chips around the grille. The fender tops have many small imperfections from the constant work under the hood - which will get taken care of since they have to blend into the fenders anyway. With all the heavy construction going on at the end of my street for the flood retention dam, I'm going to wait until the winter at the earliest.
