I have much experience in the matters of insurance. I think i had 8 claims in the last year or so.
First on the have it estimated high and take it someplace cheaper for repairs. Yes, sometimes you can do this, but insurance companies know this trick, and it will bite you in the end in 2 ways.
The one time i had this work for me i took the estimate in a Metro area and had the work done at a small town. i think i still broke even after deductible though, so...
1) you will not get as much $$ as you would have by taking it to a good shop. I've almost always had every repair come back with a balance due at pickup that they have to bill insurance for. (as in it was estimated at $1000, so ins pays that, but in the end it cam out to $1500 so the shop will bill insurance for the remaining $500
or
2) you get what you pay for in shop repairs and you car has sub standard work because you tried to make a buck off insurance, and had to take it some place crappy.
Had a large hail storm come through last year and damage my Saff, as well as my 98 S70 T5 SE (which was black)
This is the worst dent in the hood of the T5. it caused me the most trouble.

I took both cars to the repair shop that handled our 08 Matrix getting sand blasted by a gravel truck and rear ended (2 separate incidents about a week apart) They handled the matrix flawlessly. Then they handled said matrix getting totaled, and the matrix's replacement (09 Prius) getting totaled out 8 weeks after purchase as well, Also Prius #2 (an 08 that replaced the 09) was damaged in a hail storm a few months after purchase and they flawless repaired that.
So, the t5 went in and went back about 4 times. first they did PDR on the hood which left a little high spot. it was liveable but then the paint got hazy where the repair was done. so they repainted the hood. then i had orange peel then they repainted again. there was some other issue that they had to re do the hood at least once more, and finally they had to do a hardcore buffing on the entire car because the other spots of pdr got hazy as well (most noticeably after a rain)
Finally they got it correct, and i took my saff in to them. Thankfully by this time they were well aware of how OCD i am about these things, and they had immeaditly called in an expert on the paint. I believe some of it was pdr, and some was paint. the hood on the saff was for sure painted. My only complaint with the repair on the saff was they didn't tell me they were painting it (i had asked to be called, they forgot) and that is only because i would have liked to get some other unrelated spots touched up at the same time as paint on the rest.
They did an excellent job paint matching.
I had a friend in high school that had a metallic gold Chevy S10 that got keyed a few times, and after every repair you could tell the paint didn't match. the truck was only 3 years old, and almost every panel was a slightly different color.
I do not have this issue with my Saff. (i was very afraid i would)
