Can it be done? I read a little about some of you dropping rn blocks in 94-2000 cars.so i was wonderig if the reverse was possible . Not saying im goig to attempt this or anything even remotely like that just wondering if its been done or could be done.

Shooting in the dark here but you could probably use an older bottom end mated with an 01+ head and run that in a P2 S60/V70. Would probably need to fiddle with the accessory rack bracket and switch to the 99-00 oil pan w/cooler and other minor things though.

Like most things, it is possible, but pointless. Certainly not a performance modification

Why comment if you are going to say something dumb and completely irrelevant

Please tell me you intended that to be ironic (not moronic) in THIS thread!

Im sure its possibe to put any engine that fits in the engine bay. I should have been more clear with my question. What issues would one run into most likely if one were to attempt this. For example would use an ecu from the older engine or one that matched the car.
Would the engine harness need to be matched to the car or the engine or modified to be a combination of the two? Or would you have to use something completely different.
would the engine mount right up or would something need to fabricated?

You would only use the long block (excluding oil pan), not any EMS components, all those would need to be retained from the vehicle. Immediate serious issue would be lack of VVT on older head.

Older torque mount & bracket would have to be used, front engine mount bracket, basically all engine side brackets would be needed. Depending on the year, the oil cooler (metal) return line would have to be sourced from yet another year to make it work.

Anyway, basically the inverse of any of the documented RN into 850 swaps, so you'd probably want to look at those for guidance.

I would say the VVT issue would be a deal breaker since the CEL's from that would send the system into hysterics.
