I am helping a friend replace his axle and when we removed driver side the axle literally seperated from inner boot. I am trying to help him get the remaining piece of axle out and have tried the 5/8 chisel method and no go. What other methods can I use without damaging the tranny or casing. Thanks

Wedge a large flat tip prybar between the axle and trans, turn with a big wrench. Should pop right out.

This one is tough. I've done it twice. Once in a shop, once on the streets of Baltimore. It's more of a physics problem than anything. You need to create a large anoumt of force in a really short amount of time in order to break free the strong c-clip that is holding the axel in the transmission. The best method is sadly the most ghetto. Rope and a cinder block or 10 lb weight. Tie one end of the rope on the axel and the other end on the weight and swing it (in my case into the streets of Baltimore's on coming traffic). You will be surprised with how little effort the axel pops out, compared to how difficult it seemed before.

I hooked my axle to a rope and rigged it to my harpoon gun...shot that fucker 3 blocks away.

Another fucking  s70: with Lots of zip-ties, a power antenna, and a bitchin shift knob... the only mods that matter.
