Supposedly, the new S60 Polestar will be revealed in Gothenburg. Hopefully not a repost. But I wonder if it will have 400hp+? Probably T6 powered?
Sneak peek at 1:10.

Edit:
Check out all the comments on the picture on Volvo Cars US facebook page. Most of them talk about the color, with no mention or care in the world about how it will perform. No wonder Volvo doesn't see a need to build a true performance car

I just hope that they realize a continued rise in popularity with the younger market will only be achieved if they make the cars more appealing beyond just cosmetic tweaks.
As for performance ... The rumor mill has it that the car will either be powered by the Polestar T6 (The one they already use) or the 4.4L V8 out of the XC90 (Which is built by Yamaha btw).
Also, the SCCA TTA Elite series cars run the gambit from 1.6L turbo 4 bangers all the way to NA V8s. With the higher output cars in and around 250-400bhp (depending on weight). Both the stock T6 as well as the 4.4 V8 make 300-315bhp stock so achieving a reliable 400bhp is completely reasonable. The T6 that Polestar has already tuned is ~325bhp.
What makes the performance specs interesting is the actual power curve achieved by the T6 and their tuning. Makes for a surprising performance level.

I know they're offering an ECU flash for the s60's right now would "assume" they're offering it for the C30's as well.
I actually just test drove a C30 for the hell of it on Tuesday. I asked about info on the C70 parked next to it with the Polestar badge on it and he mentioned that it just simply has the Polestar tuning package. He then went on to tell me that if I was interested in the C30 and wanted it to be Polestar tuned, the badge would then go on the back as per my liking. So yes, they are offering Polestar tuning for their entire line of turbo models, including the V50 and XC70.

I've heard V8 as well, but T6 is more likely. Also, I believe all the PoleStar bits ARE available per dealer installation (e.g. AWD C30, tuning, etc.)

I'm seeing the Polestar package having a few different color options, larger brakes, MAYBE larger turbo(s), free-er flowing exhaust, larger wheels, stiffer suspension, interior packages etc
Realistically I'd expect to see 20-40 more hp than stock
Still no standard transmission most likely

My Father just got a new 2012 S60 R design which has the 325hp and 354trq. I was just told there might be an upgrade for that also from my contacts at Volvo. Maybe 350hp 375trq?
No upgrade beyond Polestar which that car already has, unless you want to start exploring non-factory supported tunes.
Get new contacts at Volvo because these ones don't know anything.

Well of course I know the car has a Polstar tune already... I just said that. I also said it might be something in the works as I was informed, but not offered right now. Its just a software update. No different than the Dealer offering a Dinan stage 1-2-3 Software upgrade thats backed by a full BMW 50,000 mile warranty on the 07-12 335i's that is the direct competitor for the S60 R design as well as the S4.
This is all new with Volvo... and you bet your ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD it wont be just the ONE tune offered in time to come for this engine.

this still brings the question: is Volvo going to man up and put a manual transmission in for the states?
probably not
They really should. Even a DSG tranny would be nice to see.
