SO I have seen a ton of threads out here asking about modification of the S80 V8 engine. I have to say I have not seen much (if anything really) out there.
I hear all the time that it is not a mod car...HOWEVER - With all the gear heads out there, THIS CAN'T BE THE FINAL ANSWER.

So - I thought I would start a thread around this vehicle and any mods that people may of found.
If you have ideas or have found things that work, Please let people know where you found it, what it is, and what your experience with the car was.

For instance... I have entertained the idea of adding a supercharger...for no other reason than to stand apart...or because I can...but I am not convinced yet and I don't know if the price is worth the perc.
And before you ask...311HP ... Yes it is nice...but I am a guy and tend to do guy things...which may or may not involve supercharging the V8.

The car itself is beautiful... Pearl white with black 18" rims and Eagle GT's - I am about to drop it 1" so it has a slightly lower profile (more like that of an M3).
I am NOT interested in slamming it or any crazy mods....But it would be awesome if it just had a touch more mean to it. aka over 400HP - Although I have heard that the supercharger might only bring it up to 390hp in which case the cost may not meet the price.

anyway - if you have found mods for this car... let me know... i would love to hear about it!

The year would help. If I recall correctly, there's a supercar that uses that same yamaha V8 with some mods... can't remember which, it's one of those funny named ones.

doesnt make much of a difference....

op, how mechanically inclined are you?

if i were to do it my self i would expect to be spending between 3-5k on parts alone to get it done properly, of course alot of my time would be involved in designing and fabricating.
Since there are no companys making supercharger kits that i know of, expect to pay 10k+ to have a shop custom fab something together.
Forced induction is the only way you will get over 400hp without getting inside the motor.
You might get around 360ish if you can get the motor to breath a bit better and get a really good tune on it....

Get a nice sounding exhaust, and a tune(if anyone is tuning these things yet) and enjoy your amazing sounding v8 luxury sedan.

RIca UK has a tune. But I suspect it is not a doft loader so ECU goes in. Or maybe a
dealer does it.

http://www.rica-uk.c...spx?vehicle=165

I was aware of it being available via Viva for the Xc90 V8 but I don't see it listed other than on Ricas site.

Well if you're trying to push more out of it, why would you run crap fuel?

Ah, it's the Noble M600... has a B8444 from an S80 with new internals and twin turbos.

Direct port nitrous, modified intake, exhaust and a tune maybe under 3.5k and you should have close to 400 on the gas hehe.

A couple of us here in the UK have talked over what could be done. The first thing would be new downpipes with special cats and a full replacement exhaust which on there own, well designed and made could free up 25bhp, then do some mapping. Cams and porting would be on the list too.

I very much doubt that rica could truly get the figure they state just with a software rewrite, it will need some physical mods.

Sorry folks...it's an 07 s80 v8 AWD - and thanks for all the ideas... I'll keep you posted with how this ends up. I was thinking we would be talking a hefty price tag on the Sup charger... I do have a few friends that tune for a race garage so that might save some seed... I'm going to meet with them today and go over price and possibilities.

Thanks again for the ideas ... I love this car and I love that it often catches people by surprise.

You'd get pretty close on 91 or whatever your premium is. You might not get all of the ignition advance though.

OP...you might try emailing all of the Volvo tuners you can think of...maybe a copy/paste message. Hell, I'd even shoot a message to Noble. Worst that could happen is they don't reply. But you never know. I ended up getting put in touch with two members of the original design team for the 850 a short while back just asking questions and networking. They run a Volvo repair shop somewhere in CA now, couple of Swedish gents.

Remember even if you do cobble together some sort of supercharger setup, it will still need tuning..not sure if there is any custom software writing for these..

Maybe this was already stated..sorry if I missed it

Another fucking  s70: with Lots of zip-ties, a power antenna, and a bitchin shift knob... the only mods that matter.

actually on a serious note, this is a legit suggestion.
I ALWAYS forget about nitrous.
If you have a way of tuning for it, nitrous would be the cheapest way to get you over 400, as long as you have some supporting mods that let it breath better and you get it realtime tune on the spray, you will be safe =] besides, a 75-100hp shot is not a whole lot.

They're gonna have to be flatter than that with a transverse mounted V8
