My trunk was staying open yesterday, but today when i went to open it, it weighs 1000 pounds and won't stay open, and it will slam shut if i let go of it.

Is this most likely the lift supports causing this or something else?

Most likely lift supports. Also check if one popped off the connection point on the hinge. They are not hard to replace.

100% bad struts. In the repair forum/links, there is a DIY for trunk struts replacement.
