I'm going to vote No: Other, based on my opinion that I don't see how restricting you from owning the "best" guns really matters, but you can have one that's 70% as good. And you could still buy pre-ban weapons. Pretty sure the recent CT shooting was strictly pistols, the VT tech was pistols. Wackos with guns still kill people, and they seem to have been able to do it with saddening efficiency no matter the weapon. So there's my unscientific opinion

Your poll asks "based on it did/didn't save lives". Do you expect people will have hard evidence of this? Or just defend their opinion?

I was pissing on Mikes cheerios about this. CT School event was with a .223 which never has been a military round. Its almost about the smallest center fire round you can buy both in size and power.

it appears this guy used what was available to him. It could have been a shotgun, had that been what was at home. The death toll was so high b/c it was small children and it was shooting fish in a barrel. On the topic of banning only the good guns, in canada they ban item based on looks, not necessarily performance.

According to the coroner, as Chuck stated, the Bushmaster .223 (an AR-15 model) was the primary weapon and it sounds like he used soft point or hollow point ammunition.

He had multiple magazines and did not use all of them before he offed himself. Coward killed himself once he heard the LEO coming for him. Sounds like there were 4 educators he was after and he got three of them. I'm expecting to hear a line on his difficulty in dealing with authority at some point.

I view the ownership of an AR-15 the same way I thought of my roommates' AK-47.

Which is also ironic as NATO has banned the use of hollow points for decades. As for legitimate hunting use of AR15, it is probably the most common weapon use to hunt wild boar. Super common to see .458SOCOM and .50BEOWULF hog guns.

this is a stupid poll, because anyone who claims that repassing it makes sense should be in a mental health institution, right where Lanza and others should have been.

we have these things called amendments to the constitution. if you're arguing that it's your 2nd amendment right to bear arms, I argue that it's the right for people to vote to amend that stupid amendment.

I agree that anything done, right now, in a knee jerk reaction, will in essence do nothing but make people feel better.

Given the amount of bad news regarding rapid fire random killing in the last few years, it's hardly a knee-jerk reaction that's coming. More like long overdue. Something is going to be done. Just watch. How effective it is against America's the love of their guns is another story. It comes down to "freedom" for a some, or increased safety for most. Interesting times.

the question is full of bias and is a trick.

NONE means NONE. not games with grips caliber barrel length.etc.

CIVILIANS do not need HIGH POWERED guns for the most part and def not semi auto as far as that goes

and nobody needs a 30 round clip period.

There should be no cancer out there. None. Ban cancer. No one should have it.....

What are you doing to do about the 100 million plus already out there?

But what is that "something"? That's wonderful, I think we'd alllll like to see a way to prevent these problems. But I think I speak for a lot of the opponents when I say no one has proposed an effective method yet. People's desire to come up with a fix is understandable. But you can't just "do something" for the sake of not doing nothing. That doesn't make it work. That doesn't mean it will help.

Mike, what do you define as assault "style"?

How much does clip-size really matter if you're quick with a reload?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but pretty much every modern pistol out there is a semi-auto. You saying we need to get rid of all those too? Not being sarcastic, just what to understand what you're saying.
