Seriously, its safe to say that theres hot anythings out there, but for the most part, I love screwing with the local EVO's out here.

Hahaha...
Evos are pretty quick.... I was astounded when I inched from one in my R in a 30-100 roll. That inspired me to go take a test drive, which led me to conclude that whoever was driving that particular Evo had no idea how to drive. Maybe their clutch was slipping? Quick car. Amazing deal for the price. As much fun to drive as anything else I've ever driven...Pretty spartan on the inside though....
I hate to say it, but the guy might have just had it in 5th. He'd be over 3k rpms at that point, and would therefore be able to spool up to 19psi and haul a little jerk. I do it in my R on the highway all the time. Kind of funny to see what you can out-accelerate in top gear. I've done that to several NA 3000GTs. Iif you pulled 3 car lengths through half of 4th, he DEFINITELY wasn't on it in the right gear. That's a lot to pull over the course of half of a gear. Esp with the gears in our Volvos, which aren't even that tall. 3 car lengths=roughly 60 feet. I'll assume it takes you about 10 seconds to wind through 4th, though that might be a little low, not sure. That means over the course of 5 seconds you'd need to average 12feet per second, or 8 mph faster than the Evo to pull that kind of distance. I'm talking AVERAGE over those first 5 seconds, not absolute at the end of 5 seconds. Going from a non-existant difference in speed at the begining of 4th, to an average of 8mph faster over the course of 5 seconds would require you to be gaining relative speed on him at a very, very high rate. Increasing the rate at which you gain on him by about 4mph per second. In other words, he probably wasn't trying. I don't think an M3 would have been able to pull on him that much at those speeds. No offence, I'm sure your car is quick. But I doubt if the Evo was really trying, or knew how to drive if he was trying.
They're very quick cars though, don't feel bad. Check out this dyno: http://www.buschurracing.com/EVO8_STAGE3_PUMPGAS_LG.jpg
That's with about $3000 invested. Said car runs 12.0@115

I hope they burn in hell!!!
I still screw with them all day long in my 242. The stock ones aren't all that fast from a roll, but absolutely brutal from a stop.

Why can't my car do that?!?! It has more torque at a lower RPM and is AWD.
Oh yeah, it weights 3850lbs.....ooops. I was pretty impressed by the Evo's acceleration all around. Beats any other car in the pricerange (sub-30k) I've driven. Including the SRT-4. I think it should be able to pull from my car by a reasonable amount. MAYBE not after 120, I hear they kind of die then. But then again so does the R relative to the way it accelerated before....

They are still Lancers and thus complete pieces of useless s-h-i-t in the end.

Now the normal Joe would smack someone around and make them cry with such a post, but this one is so bad that I honestly don't feel it's worth my time.
To conclude your enthralling dialogue, you forgot "SIXTH: My uncorroborated and thoughtless ideas have accomplished nothing else but successfully establishing myself as a douche bag."

Jee, that almost looks like a Flame there, Joe. What was wrong with what he said? Maybe I wasn't reading into it like you were, and maybe part of it didn't seem to make sense, but what was the point of your post bashing? If you are going to bash a post I would say it's a flame and I don't see anything useful in your reply, Joe. There is being an asshole, and then there is flaming. The latter is not cool or funny.
Here's the useful part of my post: Yes, that is how you spell douche bag.
Quite frankly, I think he is right. All an Evo is is a really nice piece of stuff.

you do realize EVERYONE has to meet certian saftey standards to sell cars here right?
so please... pull your heads out of your jerk.
An EVO or STI would wipe the floor with almost any volvo here, stock or not.
Joe, if I could make you a mod I would

Just cuz it's fast doesn't mean jack. The car has no class.
And I test drove and considered buying an Evo VIII and quite frankly it felt like a piece of stuff. The SRT4 was a bit nicer, even. If someone gave me one, sure I'd take it. But no way in HELL I would spend anywhere NEAR $30,000 for a nice piece of stuff.
And safety is in no way involved in my decision. The Evo is actually pretty safe anyway when it comes to accident avoidance ability so it all evens out. And actually it's got 4 stars all around except front seat side impact, so when it comes to that you are right, he doesn't know what he's talking about. Besides, you'd throw a roll cage in, wouldn't you?

Click here to see my new car of choice!
Whats going on in my simple mind?
1) Joe = The man
2) EVOs are sick kid cars and will smoke any of you!
3) They may not have the best interior but they are designed for going fast on a diet.
4) Why ohh why do volvo guys think that they are soo fast? This forum is almost like the Honda forums, "Ya i smoked a z06!!!". Comon ricers, get real cars and give mama her volvo back, just like a i did!!
and ya Joe you are the man, i must agree with all teh No's you post!!!
