Now the normal Joe would smack someone around and make them cry with such a post, but this one is so bad that I honestly don't feel it's worth my time. People need to post fun threads like this in my forum I envy you, Doug...

I get a kick out of how insistent people are at comparing apples to oranges all day long.

Cuz like, my Volvos classier than an LT1 so all Camero drivers are like dumb and stuff.

Let the EVO drivers take their car for what it is, and remind themselves of that by beating the stuff out of our cars on the street, and let us take ours for what they are.

BTW Camaros aren't bad.

You guys are clearly reading too far into what I say. Don't read between the lines. I'm not comparing the Evo to a Volvo at ALL. I'm comparing it to any other HIGH PERFORMANCE car out there. Like you said, Eric, that would be comparing apples to oranges and I'm NOT trying to do that at all. I think Volvo (edit: particularly FWD or AWD Volvo) and Performance together in a sentence is a joke unless you are using the word performance very, very loosely.

Let's use your example of a Camaro. A camaro has a lot more class than an Evo. Why? Because for the Camaro to run some good times the driver had to have put some effort into it and have actually accomplished something. There is nothing special about tuning an Evo. It's just way too easy to get good performance out of an Evo and afterwards all you are left with is an really fast really ugly lancer. If Mitsubishi had made something other than a Lancer perform like that (a gallant maybe?) I would be impressed, but I just feel like they took a piece of stuff and made it really, really fast. Sure, it's reliable as all hell. It's got an incredibly strong engine, as a matter of fact. And it's faster than anything else under $30k as far as I know. As a matter of fact it's faster than just about anything under $40k, too. It's even faster than MOST cars under $125k. But that doesn't make it not a piece of stuff. It still feels like a lancer when you touch it, and lancers feel like they are held together with safety pins most of the time.

Let's take another example. Dougs car. If Doug raced an Evo and lost I'd be much more interested in Doug's car than in any Evo VIII. Why? Because Doug has put a LOT of work into his car to make it as fast as it is and it is somewhat unique, where as the Evo driver probably did jack stuff and now has a really ugly really fast lancer.

In summary an Evo really is GOOD at doing what it does, and if you ask me all it does is go really really fast while still being a POS.

That's because you've been reading too far into what I was saying. I was comparing Evo's to your car to begin with, Doug. Not our FWD or even an AWD Volvo. To a well tuned, RWD classic Volvo, which is considered to be a very popular drag car.

At no point did I imply that class in this context had ANYTHING to do with luxury or being big or anything of the sort. And at no point did I imply that a volvo of any kind has any chance in hell of keeping up with a well tuned Evo.

I was trying to compare the Evo to another reasonably priced PERFORMANCE FOCUSED vehicle, not a volvo a mercedes a ferrari or anything else.

i think the volvo motor sports C70 has a volvo/penta block if i remember a post from way back, S70R beat a stock EVO on the freeway, that is all that he said, he didnt say that his car was a better quarter mile car or that it was faster 0-60 all he said is that he pulled on one on the freeway, nothing more, nothing less, there is no need for everyone to go on their own tangent about evos being faster than volvos, evos are made to haul A$$ and it was by chance that S70R didnt race one that had any mods, he didnt say that he could beat a modded one all he said what that it was stock and he pulled on it, stop trying to make this into something that it is not comon guys we are all sensable volvo owners we should know better than this.

B.T.W. Doug, the U.S. spec evos have a viscous center diffrential not the active one that the euro and Japanese. spec cars have.

wow this forum as gotten so gay, thats why i pretty much switch to turbo bricks. people who actually do alot of their own stuff and know whats up.

All i said is that i beat an EVO on the freeway bad too, they are fast in the 1/4 yes really fast but there not all that great on the freeway

anyone who is sick of all the people talking stuff all day should switch over to turbobricks, we need more FWD cars there

Really monkey, i dont have a time slip with all my new mods yet, cause i live in seattle and the track is never open due to rain, as soon as its open on i 'll get a time slip, ask anyone whos been to a meet in seattle, Ovolv or Brett knows what my car can do
