Hey all,

I have seen several pics of volvo engines with the ic piping polished. I realize some pipes are plastic but has anyone here polished their metal pipes? If so did you do it yourself or have a shop do it for you?

thanks for any assistance,

Matt

its super easy matt.. get some paint remover.. take all that ugly black paint off the intercooler pipe.. then go to town with sandpaper.

I used a buffer wheel on my pipe, and I would suggest using one on the fuel rail. You can buffer wheel kits at sears and hardware stores that are made for electric drills. They come with arbour, 3 wheels, and 4 kinds or polishing rouge. On my fuel rail, I just sprayed that same paint stripper on it(carefully) and then took a scotchbright pad and lightly scrubbed the clear coat off and then lightly brushed the rail.
Looks great IMO.

I wanna do this too, and my question is. Is the paint that is on mine or any of ours heat resistant or anything?

So I have started to do this project. It took longer then 10-15 minutes to strip the paint off, but it was worth it. Right now it kind of looks like brushed aluminum.

Oh yea, and to agree with the people who have done this. It does get very messy.

Well it is done. I love the look. Now it just has to go back on my car tomorrow. I took more then 2 hours to do it though. Like 4-6 hours.
