I don't want to accept that they are fubared yet... My mom is going to be mad, money wasted. My brother thinks I overreacted about the problem and thinks that I doubted his work... He keeps telling me "just give them time to break in, they will be fine".

I tell him about your experiences using Greenstuff pads, and how you didn't run into these problems.. He still won't accept that.

T501, thanks for the help smile.gif / sad.gif

Nothing against your Bro I'm sure he means well but you know the saying, if you want it done right do it yourself. I'm sure he did the best he could but the difference is, if you do it yourself, even if you do something wrong you'll know exactly what you did and can start figuring where you might of went wrong.

Noises are not part of the bed in period. Everything should sound/feel normal during the bed in period.

Don't let this experience keep you from working on the car in the future. This is how you learn.

I'll keep you informed if any problems arise with mine.

But, these brakes are still ok to drive on, even thought they are "warped" and squeely? I have a feeling that's how its going to be for a while... Ghetto style.

Yeah I'd say they are still safe. If you notice any decrease in performance then I'd do something about it.

Some other stuff you can try. But ask Brembo first if you ever call them.

Get the rotors turned at a brake shop. Thats supposed to even them up. I used to do it all the time when I worked at Chevy but never at Volvo. They said Volvo rotors are to soft to turn. Thats why I said ask Brembo first.

I am starting to contemplate this as an option... Just a month or 2 down the line when I can claim my brakes aren't going to get any better...

And yay, now I know how to install brakes correctly... I had the VS tutorial written by Bay 13 on hand as we did the brakes, it was helpful, but I managed to mess stuff up still...

And earlier, I was mistaken. My brakes don't shutter/vibrate, I was thinking of the the different sound frequencies they make. This is what happens when I try to think after being awake for too many hours on not enough sleep...

Thats good news. If its only a high pitch squeel then its probably just the pads. Re-grease them. You can clean off the old grease w/brakekleen and clean the caliper too. Grease any metal on metal parts. Don't get any grease on the part of the pads that touch the rotor.

Do it yourself! biggrin.gif

The sound varies... Sometimes I get high pitched squeeling, other times I get a low howling sound (no shutter, as stated before, lack of sleep, remember?)... It all is based on the speed, pressure on the brakes, and how warm/cool they are...

But, I need to go to bed... 3.00 with school at 10:15, yahoo! Talk more about this later T501 (again), still appreciate the help cool.gif

Couple quick thoughts:
1) Try chamfering the pads. Nothing to loose... if you google it, you should turn up some info.
2) I thought the Brembos had instructions to clean them off... something did, because I just did my rotors for the first time a few weeks ago, and I something said I had to clean them...
3) No offense to your brother, but he screwed up, he needs to realize that and stop pushing it off on you.

Greg, I do that cool.gif It makes the noise go away while stopping, but then after hard braking, soft braking sounds even worse until the brakes cool a little...

So, if I have the rotors turned, think new pads could help solve this issue? The only reason I went with EBC was because they dust less, but who cares... I wash my car too many times anyways, and the dust isn't that bad on other pads.

Mine didn't so I must have got an older set. It worried me at first b/c the OEM pads are chamfered for a reason. But so far so good and the bedding is almost complete.
