I have IPD big brake upgrades and sloted rear rotors for my 98 C70. I have printed out the front and rear brake changing guides from the Bay 13 maitenance section here. Is there ANYTHING I should be doing with the car/brake lines before I start taking parts off...please let me know. Thanks!!

Get a metal clothes hanger so that you can hang your calipers while you do the brake work. This way you don't run the risk of yanking the lines out.

Get some latex gloves... your signifigant other will thank yo in the long run

I use a short bungee cord instead, but still a good idea.

while u'r at it...maybe some prep work and some paint on the caliper may help future cleaning easier..

Have lots of brake anti-squeel grease readily availabe. Go over the whole back side of every pad, plus the outter edges on the front pads (the wing looking things) that sit in the caliper. I didn't grease those, boy do they make some noise. Fixing them tomorrow.

I know it sounds stupid but I've seen people do it a couple times, don't put grease on the friction material and do NOT spray your rotors with WD40 to keep them from rusting (a confused relative called me about why his brakes didnt work after a brake job after he sprayed his rotors with oil)

I was kinda thinking that as I was greasing my pads. I didn't get the wings, because it was close to the actual pads and didn't wanna screw anything up. Oh well, I learned the hard way that too little is just as bad as too much when it comes to anti-squeel grease.
