P.L. Rating: 9 Comments: I was on a business trip and away from my normal dealership when I had a problem occur. I was in San Diego at the time and took it into San Diego Volvo. Eventhough I wasn't a normal customer, nor purchased the car from them, the service advisor and the rest of the service department treated me with the utmost respect and consideration. They were extremely polite and attentive to my problem. After pulling in to the service drive I was immediately greeted and within 2 to 3 minutes there was a mechanic working on my car. Within a matter of 15 minutes they were able to diagnoise the problem and within an hour I was back on the road. I would highly recommended this dealership to anyone.

I have had very good experiences with this dealership. The sales staff is all I have encountered however they were extremely helpful and very pleasant to deal with.

The parts guys are top-notch. Damien, Rick, Fred...they each will go out of their way to help look up and find even the most obscure parts. Prices are no bargain, but they're open on Saturday!

Service is spotty. Didn't buy your car from them? Not a frequent service customer and don't have a relationship with your assigned/prefferred Service Advisor? Expect to be treated like a second-class customer as I have EVERY time Ive needed factory service on one of my two Volvos.

To be honest, one time they were nice enough to program my S40 remote to also work on my V70 - for free. However, the next time I was in getting some parts I asked how much it would cost to hook up the PIN tool and activate the Trip Computer in my V70. The Service Advisor got one of the senior tech / manager who said it's been a while since they've done it, but said it'd be around $500 since they'd have to spend four hours R/R'ing the entire dash to get to the cluster. (in fact, it's a five minute process and is programmed through the OBD-II connector - not needing the dash to be pulled). I mentioned that Ontario Volvo in Riverside said they'd do it for $125 but I'd rather save the hour drive and give the biz to the local guy. Was promptly told, "thats a good deal, you should take it." Since then I've dropped nearly $4K in service elsewhere.

The parts guys will keep me coming back for supplies, but the service advisors are the reason my next Volvo will be bought from anywhere BUT San Diego Volvo.

I've been to this dealer many times as I live in San Diego and will often go for certain parts that I feel aren't worth saving $2 to order online. As someone mentioned above, the guys at the parts counter are very good. They are always helpful and really do their best to help you out. With that though, their prices are similar to any other dealer: expensive, unless you're just buying a small part.

We've had service done several times and we've never had an issue with them, however they do overcharge for everything. My dad took the car there (before I knew how to even drive...) and had the cabin air filter replaced as a part of other services. They charged about $100 for the filter replacement alone. It's stuff like this that make people lose interest in these cars.

Fred knows his stuff!! I go there for quite a bit of stuff. I was there yesterday looking for a evap check valve and they didnt have it for my s70 and it was 168$ but he knew that the s40 you could get the valve and a small hose for half that. Unfortunately they didnt have that either.

Have you seen how they shelve their parts? Ask to see it next time its full automated..
