Comments: i've never had any repair work done there, but their parts department is terrible. I don't think the people working in the parts dept know the difference between a lug nut and a brake pad. one guy even told me volvo never made 240 turbo's in 1985 and then went so far as to say i was calling him a liar and that someone had pulled a "fast one" on me when they sold me my 245Ti by saying it was an '85 when it was really an '84. i told him i could prove it was an '85 by looking at the vin # but he didn't believe me. all i know is after dealing with their parts dept, i wouldn't dare pull my car into any of their repair bays even if they paid me to work on my brick.

Comments: I read the review of this dealership on the site (I'm a new visitor here, been combing the archives for a day or two now), and I felt obliged to chip in my experiences with them. I had a very short and simple telephone conversation with someone in their service department, who went well out of his way to diagnose my problem, and offer assistance. From a first glance I thought I had a Battery light on, on the dash lights, but after a conversation with the nice guy in the service department, and his knowledgeable suggestion that it was a common mistake to mis-read the low-coolant light as a battery light, I went back and had a second look at it and indeed he was correct.
All things considered, he was knowledgeable, both of the car's likely problems, and likely solutions. I would not normally have dealt with this dealership (my Fiancee' is a UNC Chapel Hill Student, we were leaving from here on a long trip when I called the dealership, not my usual mechanic), but I felt inclinded to relay my experiences with them. I don't claim to have brought them any complicated problems, but for this one they did quite fine.

Did ETM recall work, didn't put the ETM mechanism back together correctly, they ended up replacing the entire thing. While in for the recall, they turned DRLs back on, for what reason, I don't know.
They broke the oil dip stick's handle, they replaced it for free, which they should do.
The parts department won't let you get a part without having the VIN #, model and year of the car, EVEN IF you have the exact part number.
On the plus side, 3 of the technicians wanted to buy the car we took in for service that day.

ok...let me add to this insanity. I work there. (part time of course, I'm still in high school
that parts can be pretty annoying on some days. But overall I think the service department is pretty good.
You must have gotten a bad tech. Every dealership has a bad tech roll through every now and then. You hire
a guy, you think he's hot stuff and then he breaks things on the car he's assigned. I
don't blame you for not liking the job that was done. People that break stuff make it harder on all us other
techs too. Not just the customer. In short, I don't blame you Jackson. I do think that the work we do is good
though.

R.I.P. Crown Volvo...IMO, they were better each and every day. They had Volvo enthusiasts who would listen and give advice, aftermarket vendor sources, and very nice employees!

Anyone interested in a 98-00 X70 AWD 25mm rear sway bar kit from iPd?
