Comments: Purchase: I have searched for a used 850 t-5 wagon with winter package for some time- found it here. Car was delivered with no owners manual, with all the bells and whistles these cars have- no owners manual?!! Also missing panel to center console. As a little test, I asked a group of salespeople where the spark plugs were on the the new showroom floor wagon- not one of them knew, they had to get the service manager !! Parts: I have tricked out this car and ordered a turbo inlet pipe to have chromed- described it in detail over the phone to two different parts people- 2 1/2" dia metal pipe about 2 ft long that comes from the back of the engine up over the block to the front of the engine. What I recieved was a 6" long swivel end oil coolant line. Oh yes- the owners manual problem? Solved by taking one from another vehicle so some other poor rascal will have the same problem- egads !!! The car itself? Fabuloso !

Comments: They tried to rip us off in the services department. They said it would cost $900 to replace a fuel pump in a 740, so we went to a volvo service place and got it done for $350.

Comments: I have not been impressed with the service at Superior Volvo. Their prices on parts are always above list, and their service department doesn't know anything (Told me my rear main needed to be replaced, when it was a turbo-return line and oil filter mount seal that was leaking). Also, don't expect to get a loaner car in an emergency situation. They like to loan all of theirs out. If you want a place to have your Volvo worked on in Kansas City, then contact the Volvo Store in Merriam (913-342-8686). The guy there is a total Volvo fanatic, only works on Volvos, and will sell you parts for less than the dealer, and even usually has them used if you want to spend even less!

Volvo Store (aka Lamar Automotive) is no longer open in Kansas City. However you can still get used parts from them in Pittsburg Kansas.
For KC Volvo repairs you can try KC Autosport (913-677-0707) (http://www.kansascityautosport.com). They only work on Volvo and BMW and are independent master techs who opened their own shop. Even have the volvo parts program and ASAP G5. However, no service loaners

I have also had terrible luck with the service dept at Superior Volvo North in KC. I bought a new XC90 in 95 and picked the v6 because i didn't see the need for a v8. Unfortunately, the v6 models did (do?) not come with factory-installed DVD players. Like an idiot, I paid Superior $3K to get the Volvo-installed aftermarket DVD, etc. (My logic being that if I went to Best Buy, etc., and the thing rattled or worse, I would always regret it.)
Needless to say, my $3,000 DVD player has rattled since DAY ONE. The first time I took it back, they admitted that they couldn't find the screws it came with when they intially installed it, so they tried some substitutes. I've taken it in at least 5 times since then and they STILL can't make it sit tight. What's worse, they now say that they 'all rattle' and there is nothing I can do about it. If anyone has any advice on this subject, I would LOVE to hear it.

I had a similar bad experience at Superior Volvo. Had an oil leak in my 1997 850. First, they mis-diagnosed it and repaired a "leaking axle." Took it back a month later and they diagnosed the rear main seal leak. Wanted $1,300 to fix. I found I could get it done for $900 at Gorges Brothers in Wichita, which is a Great dealership! They repaired it perfectly. In the future, I'll try the other recommended repair shops in KC - the Volvo Store in Merriam (913-342-8686) or KC Autosport (913-677-0707) (http://www.kansascityautosport.com).
