Daniel Libutti
Rating: 10
Comments: I had an inoperable CD player, a power steering fluid reservoir leak, an intermittent right/rear window switch, and a fast-blink turn signal. They repaired all while keeping me informed and washed the car.

They are great over there. Very honest, very knowledgable, and will stay after hours to complete work on a Saturday!

I agree, I really like this place. The service is good and people know what they are doing. And the best part is that they open on Saturdays as well.

I know I say this a lot but this time it really is probably just you. I deal with them quite a bit and never had a problem. They also sold me both my 850s.

Ok good point. What did you end up buying anyways? You get a new car?

Sometimes they know when to cut their losses and move on to the next customer...

I have customers that come in with absolutly NO clue what they are trying to do. I dont have time to explain to them how to fix their car.

worlds worst are the mustang owners, people who own cars over 15yrs old, young guys who have no clue which end of the wrench to hold, and wives who are sent because her husband doesnt want to come down himself.

uh? They have a large used car lot there...either way, I've gotten much better service at Herb Gordon and would go there in an instant before 355...

I've spent hundreds of dollars at the parts department and know the parts guy quite well now...I also know quite a few techs who are incredibly generous with their time...

Regardless of what I've bought there, its what they lost in networking potential...if people come to me, knowing that I know Volvos and wonder what dealership to goto, I'll always say Herb Gordon or Don Beyer...never Darcars/355...now that could mean a net-loss of $0 for 355 or they could thousands of dollars due to a loss of sale...either way, they treat their customers like crap and I will not being go back there

Went to Darcars this morning with minor issue. I'd never been there before, but they fixed the problem while I waited, and were polite, too.

I agree with lax01. I bought my 1999 XC70 from them used several years ago and had them do almost all warranty work. They are convenient and they are good with standard stuff (experts at upper engine mounts). I had a major beef with them recently when they tried to get me to replace the whole driveshaft when only the cv joint needed replaced (the one the comes out of the transaxle near the cat on the XC to drive the rear wheels). I had Montgomery BCC transmissions do it for a fraction of the cost. It turned out to be a Volvo kit that they used. The parts department is clueless. I know some of the mechanics and some do good work. I had the rear main seal fixed under warranty and it is still holding up. Be careful, they tend to not hook everything back up and loose bolts. They really suck at mounting tires - they have scratched the heck out of my rims and over tighten the lugs disproportionately. They also can not deal with burning oil issues. They'd rather sell you a new car than do a compression test for example.

Now, Scandinavian Import Service is much cheaper (I get parts there cheaper than DarCars), but I found that when you have the work done there, they like to sneak in aftermarket parts. I found non-Volvo front swaybar endlinks and Roulunds rear pads when I thought I was buying genuine Volvo parts (it has Volvo numbers on the receipt).
