ohmy.gif Impreza WRX STi WR1 ohmy.gif

QUOTE
Peak power for the ‘WR1’ is 320 bhp at a relatively low 5,800 rpm, with maximum torque or pulling power of 309.8 lb-ft at 4,000 rpm.

QUOTE
The ‘standard’ STi produces 265 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 253 lb-ft torque at 4,000 rpm while the optional Prodrive-developed Performance Pack liberates 305 bhp and 299 lb-ft torque at the same revs and reaches 60 mph in 4.6 seconds and 100 mph in 12.2 seconds.

QUOTE
For example, 60 mph is reached in an astonishing 4.25 seconds with the 0-100 mph time at an equally impressive 10.67 seconds. Prodrive technicians also logged a quarter mile time of 12.8 seconds while the top speed is limited to 155 mph.

QUOTE
Other test track statistics see the ‘WR1’ shaving 0.7 seconds off the STi’s 30-50 mph time in 4th gear – down to 4.0 seconds – and 0.8 seconds off the 50-70 mph time in 5th – now 4.6 seconds.

QUOTE
Finally, illustrating its supercar-like performance, the new ‘WR1’ boasts an 80-100 mph time of a staggering 3.6 seconds in 4th gear and 6.5 seconds in 6th (4.6 and 7.8 seconds for the 265 bhp STi).

You sure it was this car and not a WRX look a like STi? There are everywhere, just gotta watch the clues. but good if you did, that means you are faster, or he was a bad driver

I had an STI try and take me last fall on the highway. He came into the right lane from an on ramp real fast but I saw him and paced him so we would meet. I rolled into it as he came up on my side and pulled away on him up the hill by my town. Probably 65mph when we started and 140+ when done. BTW that is the hill I melted my piston on during another evening of entertainment.
Darn boost creep. I guess the gauge is there for a reason. wink.gif

"Entertainment" wink.gif

Probably come out better on the top end (+40) becuase their AWD slows them down. I don't know what turbo Subaru puts in these, but it's probably lower capacity than the maxium flow rate a 19T puts out. wink.gif

That's what's fun a about the 850, other cars might be quicker off the line, but you can pull on cars in 4th gear. When then run out of power you have boost!

They use an IHI V39, I believe. Not that high flow. The Evo uses a TDO5H 16G. Much better flowing. Have you seen reviews for the MR Lancer Evolution? Similar concept. Lighter, stronger, faster, stiffer, better. Includes AYC and VCD, as well as a 6-speed. 300lbs lighter, light-weight BBS wheels, Koni suspension parts, 14" (!) Brembos front, 12"s rear. Coming to the US end of the year for $33k they say. Stock 0-60 is 4.3 seconds, and 12.7@108 in the quarter. They use an upgraded turbo, but I'm not sure what variety. Well over 70mph in the slalom, and skidpad #s approaching 1G. Peak hp is up "only" 10hp, but torque jumps to 295. Conservative #s, I think, given the way the car is said to run. I like this whole Evo vs. STi thing. It's producing some very interesting sports cars.

I'm not posting here, nevermind.

Just keep in mind the STi has a MUCH better top end than a WRX and you can't apply the usual "oh it's top end sucks" if the driver knows when and where to shift down. wink.gif

WRX = 13G . . . . laugh.gif
STi = IHI Turbocharger
EVO = Small 16G which is still big with TD05 housing. . .

Ever noticed how the 0-60mph, although used incessantly in advertising and sales, is usually very insignificant to those who use their car for racing purposes? I guess it's a great marketing tool, but only a fast 0-60mph split doesn't mean everything. I know our cars get very poor 0-60s, but from a roll they will roll. biggrin.gif

Well...I guess it's always more fun to see a car get whopped off the line, then pull like crazy and lay the smack down at the finish line. smile.gif

Thing was he was racing a bike ohmy.gif
As I was coming up to a roundabout I see this bike coming down on me hard with this Scooby on his tail.
As I go round the roundabout I stayed to the outside giving the bike room to move through the inside.
As we come out (Dual Carriage Way) the bike is 1/2 a car length infront with the Scooby along my side.
They both nail it and I do to, 2nd, 3rd and the bike is 2 lengths ahead of me and I'm 2 lengths ahead of the Scooby (I could see his face in my rear view mirror with a :oWhat NO ohmy.gif expression) I pop it into 4th and pin it 130 comes up and I close in on the bike, as we approach a very slight bend I'm into 5th still pegging it and pass the bike off the clock.
As we all back off for the next roundabout we re-group and the bike comes up along side me and gives me the BIG Thumbs up ;D
As we go round the roundabout the bike take a different exit but the Scooby it now behind me but with a big gap. i could still see his face it was a pretty picture biggrin.gif
