Set this up over the weekend

Tell me that's not a Pro-Ject carbon...

hands down the worst turntable I've ever owned.

I had it Warrantied 3 times for new motors, they hum and the vibration gets transferred through the tone arm (which is too light and un damped) listen on quiet passages or between tracks and you'll hear it. And yes the DC motors do it too..I had a DC.

you can't walk around your house with out it skipping with the tracking force at any useable setting.. The anit-skate weight creates a noise like a cello as the string rubs the metal hanger..

sorry to piss in your Cheerios but sell it or return it now and Buy a Rega P2

It is a Debut Carbon.

I haven't heard the hum in my speakers but from the motor it self before I drop the needle, but I'll listen for it. I currently live in a condo and the table lives on a solid steel media center with rubber wheels that is weighted down by all my other equipment; I've walked past it a few times and I haven't made it skip and I haven't adjusted the tracking force since I set it up. That and I can't hear any noise from the anti-skate.

Either I've got shitty ears or the combination of the media center and the condo's concrete build have helped...

I wanted to build up a Rega Planar 2 but this was a birthday gift. I honestly really enjoy it so far, but I've heard the acrylic platter and placing nylon washers between the motor body and the table body help quell some quirks.

Went to my cousin's last night, him and I have practically been best friends since we were born and both of us are huge into stereos. He picked up a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Esprit turntable, and I'm blown away. We were listening to his Springsteen, Darkness on the Edge of Town record. Not to sound cliche, but I've listened to this album a million times on CD or streamed, and heard things I've never heard before last night from the record. I'm sold, how this took me so long is beyond me. I ordered this today, Music Hall MMF-5.3...

Not bad. I used to have one with a Sumiko Blackbird cartridge.

Good thing you didnt buy one of those Pro-ject Carbons. Absolute garbage. worst turntable I ever owned.

I thought you were Mr digital only? seem to remember you love your HD CD

that's an expensive table -

Thats all relative..

In a hobby that has $35-50k turntables that don't include a cartridge.

$100k speaker wires..

lol

Got a family member with a cabinet the size of my living room full of McIntosh equipment for his home, I do know these things get pricey but don't know much about turntables

McIntosh people are a  whole different subset of audiophiles.

Kind of like SAAB owners used to be.

Come to think of it, most McIntosh people WERE in fact SAAB owners

I spent $100 on my Audio Technica turntable

I'd love to have a crazy setup once I have a house. Dedicated audiophile room with sound deadening is definitely happening one day

Make sure you buy the $5000 Eames lounge chair and matching ottoman to go with it.

that chair is awesome

Of course it is.  But it's way over priced precisely because it has become an item that is an absolute must have in the true man's audio listening room.

That Eames chair is more a work of art than a chair :laugh:Just looked it up, designed in 1956. Still for sale today, and still looks great. I would have guessed it was from the mid 60's.

Some people get more wound up about name recognition than enjoyment. If all you've ever had is regular entry level stuff, literally anything is an upgrade. A lot of people think they want audiophile gear, when they really just want something that sounds nice.
