What issues should I expect with this car?

What preventive measures are recommended?
(besides scheduled maint)

Will a turbo upgrade increase maintenance costs?
Cheers,

Jeff

Oil changes, tire rotations and transmission fluid flushes only go up by about 20% when you upgrade to a bigger turbo. tongue.gif

If you're getting alot of wind noise, make sure your sunroof is adjusted right. If you can push up on it and it moves (or it if moves on it's own while driving), open the sunroof upwards with the car stopped. There are 4 torx bolts you can tighten; push the roof up fully, and tighten the bolts (they're at the four corners of the glass).

Do you have this car or are you thinking about getting it. Best person to ask about this is Rob that works with VMS,(he posts a lot in the performance section of this site) his C70 had about 325hp before he went for the big up grade that is yet to be determined but well over 400hp.

dunno.

I don't even know what options are out there. (I think I'll ask in "performance", right now)

I just want feedback on maintenance issues. I hope to prevent what I can and be prepared for what I can't prevent.
Cheers,

Jeff

jeff, the only real common problem with a bigger turbo is running more boost, and bending rods.. it's pretty common with poor tuning

Wife doesn't like to tighten gas cap.

Is there an easy way to get the light reset?

I've previously been letting the dealership do it at oil changes.

replace wife. train car to rotate as wife holds cap. you fill the car up for her all the time. smile.gif

You can buy a 100-120 dollar OBDII reader and reset the codes yourself. Tighten the gas cap and once the test has run a few times the light will turn itself off.

ABS MODULE!!

turns out it goes bad in lots of cars...including mine

its expensive to replace, but can be fixed, if you search for it there are some nice long threads on the issue.

more commonly it makes your ABS/TRACS lights go on but in addition it can cause CELs / a rough ride / and a dead speedo/odometer.
