Well think of it like the white lettering on muscle car tires... I think it would look great, and just be another lil cosmetic thing to do to set one's car off from the crowd.

Scenario time
You are at the mall and there are alot of cars around...
You see a car that drives by and looks like yours...
You: Officer I saw someone driving my car out of here!
Cop: Have you looked for it?
You: No.
Cop: Well how do you know it was yours?
You: Well it was silver (in kev's case)
Cop: Yeah so what there are probably 100 silver cars in the lot today.
You: Well, it was a volvo.
Cop: Yeah my wife drives one, so what. It could have been anyone driving a volvo that was silver
You: Well m- m- m- m- my tires....
Cop: Your tires what???
You: They had yellow stenciling on them.
Cop: Yellow what?
You: I painted the letters yellow.
Cop: Like the good year tires in nascar?
You: Yeah...
Cop: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
This scenario courtesy of me, Joe.
Just kidding of course.

My uncle used to do it to the tires on his sportcars.
Agreed it CAN look great, but on our volvo's? I'm not sure, I've been toying with the idea but it realy takes of the sleeper look of our cars.
It's just that little bridge to far

On the white note, I don't think white would look too bad. I myself would actually like to just brighten up my wheels make just a tad so you can show off whose tires your riding on.... just not in yellow.
