does anybody hav a picture of a 850 with a set of 5 spoke 17 inch rims? im trying to get an idea of what kinda rims i want.
N-ville IL. 1996 850 GLT. 81k miles. sittin' on IPD springs and 'nistos.

would 17 or 18 inch rims look better? i want to lower my car about 1.25 inches...and im worried about the tires rubbing if i get 18s

You're probably going to have problems with 18" rims because tires will be pretty expensive. I'd go for 17"... they will be considerably cheaper. Not to mention that the tires will be less likely of rubbing.

if you do it right, you can do 18's and lower w/o problems. i wouldnt personally b/c of the weight, but ideally id have a set to ride around town on...

i think 17's can still look really big on our cars, we have such small wheel wells.

The main popular 17" 5 spokes are the MAS Italy "President" models and the Moda "R6". They all come in the bolt pattern that we need with the correct offset.

Those wheels are fairly heavy but man are they ever beautful. They will not disapoint you. As far as I know everyone who has them says they hold up very well against potholes and other perils on the road. They're also very popular over in europe as are the MAS Italys.

18x8's should be fine. If they do rub, it will only be when the steering is maxed out to either side. This does not harm anything and you will notice a difference in road holding characteristics with an 8inch wheel versus a 7 or 7.5 inch wheels/tires.
