mileage is off a little, but I pulled the plugs today to change them.

The electrode and conductor were perfect, light tan. no deposits too big.

Flat surface at end of threads was black and sooty.

Checked all piston tops, light black deposits similar to plug end.

Think I'm running rich? I'm guessing front O2 is on the way out...

Sounds normal to me...I see your on the west coast and I don't know the weather there but here on the east coast I get mileage complaints in the winter which is normal. Colder weather makes for worse mileage. Because it will run richer in the cold

here's a pic

the black stuff is soot and it is pretty thick. and as you can see the electrode is clean.

does anybody else see this when pulling the plugs?

no, soot is on the flat surface at the end of the threaded portion. it is not oil, just soot.

kev, would take a close pic but crappy digi-cam won't focus any closer than that. mad.gif
