Ok i understand what you guys say about everyday things we come in contact with and how soldering is just another one of those government things. But what is the difference between flux core solder and rosin core solder if someone could help me out so i know if i have the right one for soldering things in my car

For electronic work, use rosin core. The acid core solder will is too corrosive.

use rosin core and a 60/40 solder. I use one that is 2% silver so it's something like 59/39/2. I found it at radio shack.
