Its been bout 4000 miles since my oil cahnge. A little long but nothin redicuulous. IT was changed last november or december and i havnt checkesd it since.
Well i took my car in for an oil change today, i came out to seewhat they ewre doin.
The guy said i had the hottest oil he had ever seen before.
He took the dipstick out and there was sum kind of thick, kinda milky colored studd on it and in the dipstick hole. The guys i was talkin to said its coolant mixed with oil. They are saying i probably have a blown head gasket otr sumthin. Is there ANYTHING else it could be. And how much is a new head gasket. I hope my babiys is alright! lol,

Help a car newbie OUT! , thanks!

well if you have coolant in the oil then you probably have a blown head gasket. have you noticed any white smoke coming out the exhaust? i believe that is also caused by coolant in the oil. i would recommend checking the oil level everytime you fill up your gas tank.

Is the oil itself milkey or just the oil on the dipstick? Check your coolant for oil or see if its lower than it should be. If its not my guess is its just condensation.

I've got this same problem. my car is still all stock and the oil has the mily substance in it but the car doesn't run any different. One thing i noticed was that i didn't have any milkly stuff in my oil until i changed to full synth, maybe just a coincidence.

The milky foamy mocha colored residue can also be caused by short driving trips, where any residual moisture remains in the oil, and is exacerbated by the colder winter temps.

Change your oil more often and the white milky stuff is condensation, lots of short trips will do that. Don't even fall for the head gasket replacement.

I heard that!!!! blink.gif Somebody see's a bit of milky oil and thinks headgasket!
Besides in most cases if the headgasket fails it will burn the coolant as well resulting in a rough run condition

If you do a lot of short trips the engine does not have time to warm up to hot and condensation gets in the oil. That is the white stuff.

For the engine being hot to touch after 15 mn drive that is normal.

Correct, that's what it is.

BTW, I don't think the frequency of oil changes matters because recently I changed my oil with Mobil 1 and there was milky stuff the next day!
