Peacocks Wagon Build

Recommended Posts

I'm running this https://www.amazon.com/AEM-21-2059BF-DryFlow-Air-Filter/dp/B004XH68PM

If I remember my math correctly it flows like 930cfm, @22psi on my 2.5 I think it requires something like 830cfm. Realistically you want to run the largest filter you can fit. You don't want your filter causing any restriction.

When I had a 20G I used that same Jaguar box and fit the largest filter I could in there, and it was still quite a small filter. I wouldn't recommend it...

The filter I use is the AEM 21-3059DK which is 6.5" in diameter and 9" long. I think that filter is almost the same size as the Jag canister itself. Granted I don't have a pre-turbo pressure sensor, but I wouldn't want to use any smaller of an air filter.

3.5 or 4" MAF with this?  Currently going with 3.5 based on what's been recommended.

1300kg would be awesome, I want to say that's abput where Steve is at with his.

Assuming he's on a 4" MAF as that part number pulls a 4" inlet filter, however they make that exact same filter with a 3.5" inlet. I'm currently running a 540i MAF (3.5") with no plans or need to upgrade, so this is probably the direction I will go.

That's a massive amount of air holy cow. Have you had it on a dyno?

Thanks!

Got the exhaust bend made today. Only took about an hour and a half for the guy to make it. I like how It came out. 3" mandrel bend to a 2.5" ball at the bottom. Longer 3" run the the previous EST supplied piece.

Went to start it and it sounded the exact same. I guess I didn't have the manifold all the way down on the car. As a result the head is leaking like crazy. Tried to give it all another go an it only made a small difference. I think I'll need t free the turbo from the head and then try and torque it all down once more. I hopefully don't need to pull the whole turbo off but if it comes down to it, I can probably get it loose in 45 mins to an hour. The gasket would need to be flatter no?

How did you torque the manifold nuts down?

My sexy arms.

No spec just pretty tight with a 10" wrench. I think looking back at these pictures I can see the 3 layers are not flat against each other.

I think the turbo and the exhaust are pulling on it(which they should a bit) and so what feels tight isn't tight against the head. I hopefully have not ruined my gasket. However, if it isn't sealed then how could I have right?

Torque spec is 18 ft lbs for the manifold studs/nuts.

As I said via text, torque from the center out with the turbo removed to make sure the manifold is good and tight/flat to the head

Working on doing just that! Seem to be able to take apart and maneuver this turbo better then a stock one. I think the up in size and change in position helps accessibility a bit. Going to try and leave the turbo in place so I don't need to drain the coolant. The studs are not fixed in the manifold so I maybe able to fish it out and around the exhaust studs. Though they may still pose a problem.

Did you ck the flatness of the head and ex manifold mating surfaces before assembly?  Assuming so, but thought I'd ask..

Hope you figure it out..

Got it part way apart today. More work to follow.

The seal of both was great before hand. When I get it all apart I will triple check that.

Hi im new to this forum and this is my first post.
      i have a V70r 1999
there seems to be difficult to find a gearbox replacement 1208943. Reason for replacement is the gears are slipping when the atf is hot. I want to rebuild it but instead of taking down the one on the car I’m looking for one used I can rebuild and swap with the one on the car.
my questions is: can i use other gearboxes F.ex 1208942 from xc70?
Does anybody here know What might be wrong with the one i have? No DTCs!
Does anybody have A 1208943 they might wanna sell? Or maybe 8111193..
other things I can do except flush as I just did that? 12l jws3309+treatments+leakstop
where is the Volvo race mechanics ? 😅

A slightly neglected but making a comeback, 70R that is just itching to find a motivated owner. Nearly every month, we all read, or hear about, another R selling for CRAZY money. This particular R is NOT crazy money. It's reasonable money. $4000.00 and who knows, it may be even cheaper. What I would REALLY be interested in, is a TRADE. STRAIGHT ACROSS. CAR FOR CAR.

      MINE; 2005 VOLVO V70R ONE OF 674
190,000. Mostly fwy commute miles silver paint with the typical Gobi colored leather. Yes, it would be nice if it were flash green with Atacama but it's not. Clean title, never been involved in any significant accidents. NO panel has been repainted. Has a few of the typical umps and bruises but nothing big. Interior is Gobi leather and is a little tired. CaR starts easily, idles nicely, revs like a pissed off banshee,  has a working 4C system, all three settings, NO CHECK ENGINE LITE, NO codes other than ignition ring and rear wiper motor.
Automatic trans with a new, Quality replacement, valve body including all eight shift solenoids. New, not ebay Chinese "reman" solenoids as well as all new proper transmission fluid. I have set adaptation thru VIDA only to find out that the VIN LOCKED TCU is probably "bricked" and needs a XEMODEX replacement.  APPROXIMATELY  $499.95  I just don't want to deal with it as I have other cars and projects in various stages of completion and have no room.
If I were to keep it, I would absolutely do an M66 Install as this conversion alone seems to make people go mad and throw huge amounts of cash at owners.
If I had the room I'd strip it bare and make it a 6 speed track only car with full cage etc.
Yours; 95-97 855R  prefer red but any R color would work. Needs to be in reasonably decent condition. NO SALVAGED TITLE. Must run. NO more than 2 years out for tags. I understand how old they are and how crappie the interior plastic is now so I won't freak about a cracked or broken interior. PLEASE,  NO TOTAL POS CARS BUT SOME ISSUES ARE EXPECTED
Interested? Let me know what you're thinking and maybe we can make something happen

      Hello,
first time posting here not sure what to expect. So I have an 07 xc70 I recently purchased and have a few questions about some performance mods I would like to do. So this car has about 175k miles and I want to boost my horse power up to the high 200’s if not low 300’s it’s my daily and I want a bit more juice for fun but I don’t want to destroy it too bad I love the i5 sound and the entire car in general. What are some things I can do to increase the horsepower but keep it from killing itself. Also what are some good exhaust mufflers or kits I can buy that increase the sound at higher rpms but not as much at low rpms it just sounds so amazing at high revs and I want to emphasize that as I’m driving. Any feedback or suggestions would be great. Thanks!
