Based on the great input from my earlier post, and Rich's detailed diagrams, I pulled apart most of the PCV system on my '95 850 Turbo with 75k on it. I am sure it has never had any form of PCV cleaning before. End result was finding a plugged up small plastic nipple where the vacuum line connects to the air intake hose just before the turbo, at the valve there that has the emissions hose, the vac hose and electric plug. After 10 years, everything else looks quite good, so my assumption is that this is probably one of the more common spots for these systems to start to clog. If so, it seems as if it should be on the maintenance list for those once in a while chores. Just pull the small vac line elbow off the valve and ream out with a pipe cleaner soaked in carb cleaner once in a while? It looks as if you can do it with the valve still in place too. I'm going to try that short-cut approach on our XC with 85k and see how it works. I would suggest having spare rubber elbows on hand also. The one I pulled off was not leaking, but it did come apart pretty easily while being removed, and had clearly deteriorated from its constant oil bath. It is not nearly as hard to reach as the elbow on the other end of the line at the intake manifold.
