I noted in the article on Bay 13 that he called the substance smeared on the pads "pink grease" and perhaps even silicone grease. That lead me to believe it was really grease. Others in my post below said they buy it at Pep Boys etc. Buy what? I am very familiar with anti-squeal compound that comes with most brake pads - which is either blue or red, but I would never describe it as "grease." It turns into a hard rubber substance. Is the pink Volvo stuff the same, or is is really a form of grease?

Having used it on my rears, it really does look to be a think grease. I didn't go back and check.. if noone else beats me to it, I'll post up when I replace one of my calipers.

pink volvo stuff is anti-squeal. grease would eventually rinse away. pink stuff stays.

Just so everyone knows the brake grease is now white instead of pink.

i use this "brake quiet" stuff, comes in a spray can and works rather well... It sprays out in liquid form then give it a min and becomes sticky like grease but longer lasting...

I use a high temp copper anti seize ...if you have a squeal problem use the factory pads with a cut shim in the rear...in the front I use nada

I've tried the orange paste that turned to rubber, the red spray that got sticky, blue stuff in a little pouch, the silicone brake grease in a tube, very heavy sticky open gear lube, IPD teflon shims...the IPD shims kept the rears quiet the longest. Switching to Mintex pads, shims, & silicone brake grease is quiet now about 99% of the time.
