I have a 2001 V70 and I am having an odd problem. Once traveling highway speeds - 60mph + I occasional get a "lurch" almost as if the car is downshifting, but I have NOT moved accelerator pedal at all! There is no rhyme or reason to when it happens. Any help here?? I am taking the car in to be serviced this week and would like to be armed with info. before I get taken at $70/hr. AGAIN!

Sorry to spoil your evening, but sounds like the dreaded ETS module failure

not sure about the v70, but I had this with my 850 a wile back. It was due to a 'dirty' trottle position sensor. The signal would change, causing the tranny to downshift. Taking the sensor out and cleaning it and its internal potentiometer with contact cleaner solved the problem.

I have not had an ETS light come on though??? I thought these "smart" cars always give you a light when something has gone significantly foul with ETS??
