My C70 T5 doing some strange things, sometimes the idle is erratic and the engine cuts out ETC light comes on, I restart and all is OK any ideas?

if you car is '99 or newer then the dreaded ETS module failure is upon you

Look around here for threads about the Throttle Body ETC (TB). Some people have some limited luck cleaning it with carb cleaner, but in the 1999-2001's they have a poorly designed ETC which will almost certainly fail around 50-70,000 miles.

If the flapper gets contaminated and sticky, cleaning might help, temporarily. If the module has failed due to heat buildup then it must be replaced. It requires a dealer repair shop and a fat wallet. Mine cost me about $850, but some people got stuck for up to $1200.

There is a good discussion about this buried in an obscure corner of the "Off Topic" forum. I would think a common problem such as this might deserve a more visible location.
