2012 C30 T5M/Warning!-Fiat content!!

Recommended Posts

Everyone knows that Hussein has that itch we all experience, but his is stronger and needs more to stop it. I found it hard to believe he wouldn't mod any new car he got, and he proved me right. Just waiting to see what comes next!

Very nice C30, especially with the new wheels.

I'am pretty sure  it won't take long before it's power exceeds 500whp though

Thanks guys, however it think you will be underwhelmed ;)

no plans to go beyond the K16 on this - so likely only in the 325wheel range, from what I'm seeing.

I can't even really call it a 'build' thread, since everything is bolt on - I haven't had to fabricate a single part myself....

Perhaps in a few years I will change my mind, however, this is my DD and I'm not going to get carried away with it like the XR, really.

WoW! I'm totally Johnny come lately! You sold the XR? Does the build thread still exist? I was taking a few cues from your thread. What prompted you to get rid of it?

It's just not the same as building a P80 - where you are making stuff work that was never intended for that model. The C30 has much more readily available to it.

I guess what I mean by that is that I'm used to a 'build' meaning a fair amount of thought and design and fabrication or modification has had to be figured out to get from point A to points beyond...

i agree, anyone can just slap a few readily available bolt-ons on a car.. Not the same as "building" a car.

Liking the blackout on the C30 Hussein.  Looks great!

It is cool that the C30 has such a good aftermarket selection of parts.  I've been telling myself the next time i'm in the market for a vehicle that is where I will search first,  by aftermarket.  Looking on the ATP site, they have some big turbo stuff for the C30/V50/S40.  Then i got sidetracked looking at the ecoboost stuff, they have some really good looking kits for both the Fiesta and Focus ST.  Not to mention a 500hp capable kit for the SHO, explorer, and F150's with the twin turbo 3.5 V6.

arts aren't really an issue for these cars. Tuning is what holds the P1 chassis cars back.  Barely anyone tunes them, and the only tuner I know of that's willing to do more than just sell you an "off-the-shelf" tune is Shark Performance.  I haven't been on C30Crew in a month or two, but the last I heard they were still trying to catch up on the US-spec K16 tune and get the updated tune to everyone they owed.

So unless you go full standalone (Motec, Haltech, etc = $$$) that'll play nice with CANBUS, you're out of luck when it comes to anything beyond a K16.  Think about where the ME7 cars with respect to tuning were roughly 5-7 years ago - that's about where the P1 cars are now.

Nice thread, cool car! Nice to see back at it Hussein, I was worried that the Xr had turned you off modding for a while.

" Perhaps in a few years I will change my mind, however, this is my DD and I'm not going to get carried away with it like the XR, really"

Someone should pin this line for future reference, it will look great next to something like...

"Just used the Haldex and AWD stuff from the XR, I had to cut, weld, machine, fabricate, invent, a couple of things...... "

Looks great. I wanted the Avanti wheels for my S60R but the tire shop said they wouldn't clear the calipers. Right!

I ended up with the Drag DR67 which resemble those a lot.

H,

are you going to remove and retint the rear glass. 3pc tint looks hideous.

Also question about the front brakes, are the bleeders supposed to be on the bottom or the top?

My 1997 Volvo 850 wagon has some really tired suspension, and on top of that the car originally came with Nivomat self-leveling system.

Now I don't really need a self leveling unit I don't carry a lot on a regular basis, and a Nivomat shock costs $270 a pop from rockauto. If I do that I might as well get a set of springs and some high performance shocks to refresh the suspension components and give it a nice drop while we are there. The Nivomat shocks themelves have a really strong rebound and it's part of what props the car up in wagons so equipped. It's supposed to sag less than 1" even when loaded with 300lb of load in the boot. That means if I just replace my dampers the springs alone will not be able to prop the car up, and the rear will sag a lot. In order to remove the Nivomat system from a wagon, a set of non-nivomat coil springs will also be installed. Since it's impossible to buy 1 pair of springs I'm stuck to buying a set of springs. And therefore might as well replace all 4 shock absorbers.

What kind of options do I have for this wagon? I want to know if there are some Volvo-specific brands I should also look out for.

From Tire Rack alone there are the following options:
      Eibach Pro springs
      H&R Sport springs
      Koni Sport dampers
      Koni FSD dampers
Koni FSD dampers and springs set
      Koni STR street struts
      KYB gas-a-shock OEM replacement
      KYB GR-2 / Excel G shock
      Bilstein HD shocks
      Bilstein Touring Class

If I want heavy duty daily use on rougher paved roads and retain OEM-like comfort but with enhanced cornering and highway stability, which combination would you recommend? Discuss.
