Okay, so I have yanked the fuel pump out and I was wondering if there is a way to test it to make sure that this is where the problem is?
Also, is there a way to test voltage to the wires that connects to the pump? I tried the pink and black wire (they turn to red and black on the fuel pump side) with the key at position II but I didn’t get anything. I would guess it should be 12 volts.
Thanks

You can take the fuel line off right before the filter and then have someone prime the pump by putting the key to pos. III but not starting the car. If the fuel doesnt squirt out then more than likely its the pump.
Were you able to hear the old pump prime before you took it out?
Sorry, didnt know you were the guy from the other post i answered earlier.

best way to test is with the pump in the car and you hook up a fuel pressure gauge.

I tried this. There is actually a Schrader valve right before the fuel filter. So assuming that there should be fuel pressure at the fuel rail Schrader valve when key is number two position, I figured that the same should be true a the valve right before the fuel filter (please correct me if I am wrong).
In any case, I had no pressure or fuel at either. This is why I remover the fuel pump.
I was just wondering if I could hook-up 12 volts to the motor and get some kind of reaction from it. Like a hum or something.
I guess my concern is that it may be something between that is causing the problem. Just don’t want to buy a fuel pump if I don’t have too.
Thanks

Did you check the fuel pump relay?

Yep. Allready replaced it.
However, I notice that in the parts catalog there are two.
Fuel Pump Relay; Main Fuel System Relay in Engine #3545803
&
Fuel Pump Relay; Fuel Pump and Fuel Injection Relay#9434225
Anyone know the difference? I replaced the later, aslo know as 103.
Thanks

I always replace both as I have had trouble with both ....the pump relay is for the pump(in the fuse block) The injection relay controls injector pulse and is under the rad shroud in the front

103 is the fuel pump relay.
The schrader valve by the fuel filter should have pressure, just like at the fuel rail. In the trunk the fuel pump has a pink and black connection, you can put 12 volts there and see if you get anything. If the pump is already out then just put 12 volt to it, but not for long, the gas cools the pump motor.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped me diagnose my car. I bought a new fuel pump today, installed it and old Sherman is running again (the car is green and reminds me of a tank). So happy to have my car back.
Thanks again everyone!
