I just changed a set of control arms on my 98 S70. Took about 2 hours from start to finish. I bought them from FCPgroton. I think they were $75 each and I was pleased with the quality and the hardware that came with them. Changing them out is not a big deal as long as you have the right tools and things aren't too rusted up. Spray the nuts with PBlaster a few days before you do the work.

Jack up the car and put it on jack stands under the center frame. Remove the front wheels and the two bolts holding the arm onto the frame. (this is where it's helpful to have air tools) and the single bolt holding the ball joint. With any luck you will be able to pry the ball joint out of the spindle without too much trouble. Sometimes it helps to drive a cold chiesel into the saddle on the spindle to spread it a little. After you get the ball joint separated from the spindle, take a pry bar and pry the control arm loose from the frame. Re-assemble in reverse order. The ball joint bolt gets tightened to 37 ft lb. When you tighten the control arm to subframe nuts the control arm needs to be "loaded". Get everything assembled with the control arm to subframe bolts loosely installed. Put a jack under the outer end of the control arm and raise the car until it's just about to lift off the jack stand. Tighten the bolts to 48 ft lb plus another 120 degrees.

Get the front end aligned as soon as you can.
