  • Interests:I have two Volvo's. A 98 S70 T5 with an automatic transmission and a 99 S70 T5 with a 5-Speed transmission.<br /><br />The 99 has been modified by the previous owner. It has a Garrett GT25 turbo. It has a few issues that I'm still trying to identify. Also, I'm planning to buy a parts car to support it. I am looking for info on compatible models for a parts car. If anyone can tell me what models are compatible I would be interested.

I have a 99 s70 T5, 5 speed manual. I bought the car knowing it had some problems. I am a pretty good mechanic, but I'm not familar with how the variable cam timing works on the s70. I had a code for the camshaft position actuator and have replaced the solenoid. I still have a check engine code so I think it is the same one, the camshaft positioner.

Does anyone know how this component works? Also, there are slots on the exhaust cam sprocket so how do I tell if the relative position of the camshafts is correct?

Thanks,
Mike
