Brian,
Yes the black jewel headlamps for 850 from VPtuning. I just am looking
to find out of the options for 850 headlamps. I would like a more modern
clear type
I have gone to VPtuning and there I find clear for 850 and black for 850
and others for S70 but I have 850. The ones that are clear say DOT approved
Thank you
Helmut Ranff

All of the Jewels for sale at VPTuning are dot spec. For your 850 you can fit model numbers VP-2010 (black jewel kit, includes corners) or the VP-1070EU (clear jewels only) with VP-1075EU (the matching corners).

You have helped me again. I was not sure of why it said Euro Spec if it was
DOT approved. This is why I asked you. And it also had something on the page that said it was only for offroad when talking off the clear jewel
Do you think this is easy to put in myself or shall it become hard
to aim the lights without a bubble or is there a special wire harness or shall it plug in without modification

Even though it says that, I wouldn't really worry about it. you'd really have to have a super picky cop or inspector look at your car to say "No you can't use those on your car." If cops aren't going to chase us about our Euro plates and other minor mods, this will definatly not be a problem. I know that these are legal in PA, it al depends on your states regulations.

Those are a set of jewels. For them to be legal you would have to have the orange bulbs put into them. My one friend who drives a mustang had blue bulbs in his corners and the cop tipped him off that they were illegal. He didn't get a ticket or warning but the cop told him to take them out. If you put orange bulbs in them you shouldn't have any problem.

Brian-
Yes this seems to be the correct way! This shall look very good
on the 850. It is light blue so I think that the black will not look
as good as this so I shall make the clear jewel but find the orange
if the police complains to me or the inspection fails

Helmut,
Please stop posting the same topic in 2 different forums. I don't like answering the same exact question twice!
Again, I have these headlamps, turn signals, and matching sidemarker lights. The turn signals come with clear bulbs for the running lights (top of turn signals) and orange single-filament bulbs for when you have your directional on. This means that the bulb only lights up when the turn signal is on (flashing).
The headlights take H1 bulbs.
Now, although the headligts are stamped with DOT on the glass, this does not necessarily mean that are actually DOT compliant. Scantech distributes the jewel headlamps and they are most likely made by a Japanese Taiwanese company that stamps whatever codes they want to on the lenses. I do not know what the specific requirements are in order for lights to be DOT compliant. I can say that I have never been pulled over for or bothered about any problems with these headlights.
If you have any more questions, feel free to PM me or one of the few other board members who own these lights already.
