What experience have you seen with 2001 V70s that have used the software upgrade to get rid of the Neutral Stop function on the tranny? Early failure?
I have seen posts saying that the trannys were not meant to sit at stop with a load, so eliminating the neutral stop function will cause undue load and early failure.
Other posts say there have been no adverse effect of the software update.
Seems like 4 years is plenty of time to determine if this is a good idea or not. I don't like the neutral stop lag and I can see why it only lasted one year.

Interseting.... so the tranny shifts to neutral when at a standstill? Seems like it would help keep the wet clutch from taking unnecessary load.

No tranny failures from the SW upgrade. The function was all software anyway, they just did away with it and it really works.

Yeah sounds cool too bad it didn't work. Sometimes it felt like you were doing a N drop of the line. No more problems since my upgrade either.

Does anyone have the specific SW# for the fix?
My car doesn't suffer from the stop neutral lag. However, I never remember requesting it. Perhaps the nice people at the dealership fixed it for me.
Thanks in advance.

Go in and ask for a software upgrade if your car is under warranty. We did that with our 2.4T. It was having problems cranking (intermittently took an extra long time to crank), but a general software upgrade fixed that up. Cost nothing, too.

I have a feeling my car is "fixed". I never noticed a problem starting from a stop. When it was new I didn't remember this to be a problem either. I'm thinking somewhere along the line that the SW patch was probably added already. I have all my records so I can just scan through them and match up the SW# if someone here knows the specific patch.
Thanks.
Thanks.
