So I took the car in to the dealer to fix the leaking tank recall and starts with that the break the hoodlatch and then when I checked the coolant it had some kinda of yellow/brownish mud in it. It is like a oil on water and it doesn't desolve with anything. Real slippery substance.

Could this be a reaction between different cooler fluids as I mostly just use 80% water and 20% coolant fluid, can't think of the name right now, yellow bottle with black lable?

Going to flush the system and just put water in the and see.

The chocolate milk shake is usually caused by a bad radiator, it's leaking the oil cooling part of it.

awesome, so oil is leaking into the coolant, great.

is it going to cause any damage if left like that or is coolant going to start mixing with the oil also?

Problem is the oil in the coolant, it's getting all over the coolant galleys in the block and reducing the cooling ability of the coolant. The pressure from the oil will more that likely keep the coolant out of the oil but......... why test fate.

couldn't been more then 1 month seens I checked it and then when I came back from the dealership it looked like they put some different coolant in there and it reacted with the stuff I had in there to make the mud, but the oil in the coolant like right.
Going to flush it and just put water in there and see, but one new/used radioter is probably in the next week or so.

Dishwasher machine detergent cleans oil from engine cooling passages. It is low sudsing. Be sure to flush, flush, and flush again after the cleaning. If you can still smell the scent of the detergent, flush and flush again.

Just curious - What do you do with the old coolant? I'm pulling my radiator and flushing while I'm at it but I don't know what to do with the old stuff. Its toxic as hell so I'll collect it into a big jug like I do oil. Then what?

Same with the flushing...do you just flush out onto the ground after you've drained as much coolant as possible? That could end up being quite a bit of fluid.

I first saw it done by a Caterpillar mechanic working on an engine with a leaking coolant-cooled oil cooler. It cleaned the cooling passages with no fuss.
