I got a strange small oil leak coming from somewhere in the front under the intercooler, radiator area. Now before everyone tells me that its the oil cooler lines that go into the radiator, let me assure you that they are dry. The oil gets on the under air dam and drains out until it drips to the ground. I've taken the d@mn thing apart and don't see where it can be coming from. Wiped everything down to see where oil might come out from down there. I don't see anything. The lower intercooler hose is dry, once again the oil lines are dry, radiator, intercooler, everything is dry. I don't get it. mad.gif

The only strange thing I see is a tiny pin hold on the bottom of the intercooler, and that is originally there done by Volvo. I haven't stuck anything in there, so I'm not sure if it's a drain or what.

Any ideas????

That small hole on the bottom of the intercooler is the source of your oil, it's there for the oil to drain out. I put a oil soak pad in the bottom of the air dam and change it every oil change and that keeps thing clean and neat.

Ahh thank you rich.

When I was changing my front bumper, I noticed oil in the splash guard and thought my IC was damaged.

Oh thank you Volvo GOD...hahaha.... tongue.gif

I was like wondering where that oil was coming from....I was starting to freak out. Umm, instead of using a Maxi pad, I'll try a tampon to plug it up. tongue.gif biggrin.gif ph34r.gif

OK, I got another stupid question....
If I remember correctly, our 850 turbos take about 5 quarts of oil right???? How come mine barely registers on the dip stick??? Is it cuz I need more, the oil cooler drained out too when I changed the oil??? Currently it has 5 quarts of REDLINE 10W-30. Should I just keep adding until I see it has reached the full mark on the dip stick???? blink.gif unsure.gif

5.8 to 6.2 is what the car takes depends on the red or orange dip stick, put six in and then check. Note from the bottom mark to the top is about 1.5 qts.
