Its been a while but I am back Ok I have a 95 855 NA auto trans with 200k on the clock and I need to replace my pass side outboard cv, way back when I had a water cooled VW clunk clunk replaced just the cv joint, I pulled my Haynes and they show the replacement of the cv only, I call around and folks are selling the whoile axel ? I check here and find the raxel info. Question is is it now the style to relpace the entire axel and not just the cv? Local house has an axel for $75.00 excl.gif made by weasel badger or some sort of company. If you pull the entire axel how do you get it out of the trans is there any trick?

Thanks Clunk Clunk Chris28

Entire axle is much easier. I don't know if I'd trust the offbrand rebuild...bad balancing could cause a mess with your ride. To get the axle out of tranny....pull hard. I usually use a large flathead to lever the axle from the casing...no bolts holding it in.
