My CEL is on and I am told it is due to an SAS problem. I had the valve, air pump and relay all changed about 18 months ago and I really don't want to replace everything again. I would like to replace the problem part only, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
So far I have done the following: removed and inspected the air pump and it had no water in it. The connections all looked good also. On a cold engine I checked for vacuum on the small line at the SAS valve and vacuum was present. When I reattached the line, the SAS valve made a clicking sound that stopped when the vacuum was removed and started again when the vacuum was reapplied. While I was at the SAS valve I removed the large hose from the air pump and found no air was coming through it.
I would like to know if there is a way to test the air pump, the relay and the controller independently. The Bay 13 write-up is great for replacing everything in the system, but I don't want to just start replacing parts and hope I find the culprit early. Again, I would appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Bill

The car is a 1997 GLT and I don't know the codes it pulled up. The mechanic told me it was SAS related again. (Same mechanic that replaced everything last year.
