I have a bubble in the inside sidewall of my right rear tire caused by plowing into a curb a while ago before I left it at the shop for repair and came back from school. I was wondering how dangerous it really is and wheater or not I should be fearfull while driving. I usually enjoy spirited driving but have not been pushing the car since I have gotten it back. For example I have been on the freeway but only in the right lane (yeah tongue.gif ) and have tried (tried) to not go above 80mph but at one point did notice myself at about 90+. All feels well with the tire and it holds pressure fine (has not lost pressure at all). Tire size is 205/55/16 stock tire if that makes a difference. I have less than 5,000 miles left on all four tires and will be switching to Pegs with 225/40/18 Goodyear Eagle f1 gs-d3's as soon as I can find a decent price on tires and get them mounted. Now I know I shouldn't take the chances with this so lets not get into debating how stupid this is. Pegs are in my garage and I don't want to pay out the a$$ for tires...yet. smile.gif

I woudl think it would depend on how bad the bubble is. The worry would be that it will heat up and blow out while driving at high rates of speed... so its kinda up to you. Do you tavel the highway alot doing speeds above 55mph? Do you drive the car for long periods of time?

I would say replace it, but it could still last for a while.

The side walls take a lot of stress when turning, any bubble at all means the tire is toast. You can't determine if the bubble will get bigger, blow at the wrong time etc. Work on getting it replaced ASAP.

replace that asap...you are asking for trouble. If you just want a cheap way out run the donut for a day and drop the one wheel off at a shop...

Hey spot - IF your post is for real, consider this

5000 miles on an old tire is worth about 5 bucks, all 4 tires are worth 20 bucks.

Is that worth thr risk you are taking?

Go to a tire store and get a take off - I got two for my old trailer for free - most tire stores have a pile of tires better than yours with a bubble.

The only good thing about your actions is that none of my family will be driving in California anytime soon.

James, that is a good idea about the used tire.

Good news everyone, I sourced a set of F1's this week and I am going to put them on my car as soon as I get them so everyone can take their pannies out of their butts. And it is on the rear so it WILL be a controlled blowout and for that reason I haven't been driving anyway. I have no job and have taken this time to detail my car. monkey.gif So relax monkeys tongue.gif

I understand that all of you are just looking out for me and I appreciate that. Thank you for all of your input.
