Are you sure its the Vacuum pump?
Just yesterday I decided to replace my fan blower since it has bben squealing and on very cold days it won't work at all. I put a 99 V70 fan motor in and had to make some mods. I should have gotten the Harness plug. Anyways, I remember reading a diagram on the Cruise control circuit with a nice Pictorial somewhere on this site. It showed where all the vacuum hoses go. Since I was already buried up under the dash I decided to check the Cruise switch since the cruise has never worked since I had the car. Turned out the brake pedal switch was knocked out of its mounting bracket and was sort of dangling down! Whooooopeeeeee! I just knew that was the problem....and it was. Cruising now son!
My point is check the little stuff 1st. I was getting ready to start pulling the battery and checking the pump and all that.....I had already gotten a vacuum pump and new hoses anticipating those to be bad when it was only the switch. Check your Switch and hoses for leaks. (Under the battery tray etc.) Find that diagram here on the board somewhere. Good Luck.
