Greetings all,

The car is a 1998 C70 HPT 5-speed manual.

I have a few problems with my car after I got it back. When I drove my car to the body shop it was boosting fine(10PSI), just cosemetic damages mostly and broken radiator mounts(forced me to buy a new one) that I had the shop replace.

Well I got it back today, and the first thing I notice is the check engine light is on... is this normal after replacing a radiator? this shop does not have the tools to reset check engine lights on volvos (they had snap-on diagnositics that could do it for BMW VW MBZ but not volvo mad.gif )

Another thing I noticed is I hear this water movement sound when I am inside the car only when I first turn it on , body shop said it was normal because they just replaced the radiator so there is air in the lines? but I have started my car repeatedly (at least 10 times) but it makes the sound everytime mad.gif mad.gif

Also when I started to drive the car and when I got about 2-3PSI Boost, the car just started sputtering, revs went up and down and eventually stalled. Could this be because the hose that goes from the intercooler to the engine, next to the airbox hose, was loose? When I opened the hood and reconnected the hose I was able to boost 5psi fine(I was afraid to boost more at this state)

And finally, the OBD II diagnostics were able to get some codes from the ECU which they had no idea what they meant, they were

P1308 - Volvo specific code?
P0243 - this said turbo solinoid A?

Please help, I already paid over 1800 thinking this shop could fix my problems but it seems they have made it worse sad.gif

You need to seperate your problems, you don't take a car to a BODY shop for running problems, like you don't take a car to a service shop for body problems. Question is, did the body shop make the body repairs you had them do, if they did then you need to find a VOLVO shop to correct your driveability problems.

Your right it was my mistake for taking it to a body shop for mechanical repairs, but my father insisted I get all the repairs done at that particular shop.

Decided that the amount of damage was not as expensive as I had originally thought, found mostly body damage, broken radiator mounts and torn CV boot. My insurance would have gone up a lot of I had reported it, so I decided to just repair the car.

With that said, any help would be appreciated smile.gif

Read all the codes and then clear them and see what comes back.

I cleared the codes and the turbo solinoid A code is gone but I still have the:

P1308, ignition system misfiring?

My car starts fine, no misfiring at all... its weird.. any ideas?

Sometimes you won't notice a misfire until you give it some ummpphhhh.

I had a misfire after taking it to the shop and didn't notice the car was running rough, but when I hit the gas hard... the car would hit a certain boost level and start sputtering... almost like a boost hose was popping on and off... sounds like what you are describing as your 2-3psi "sputtering"

The car does not sputter at all anymore, after the intercooler hose was securly reattached.

The 1998 has a distributor cap and rotor, if yours hasn't been replaced, that is something to consider, and plugs are also in order, those are the most common causes of misfire.(harsh or un-noticed)

Ah, I guess he doesn't have a misfire?

So now the issue is.... is the body shop going to pay for all the work that they may have "caused"?
